It was announced today that a new cDLC is coming out soon. It's based on a Normandy campaign in July 1944. There is plenty of WW2 addons in the workshop, it will be interesting to see what this cDLC brings to the table and how it looks. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1175380/Arma_3_Creator_DLC_Spearhead_1944/

I hope the DLC has some of the elite units like from Grossdeutschland and the 12th SS Hitler Jugend.

The Spearhead 44 cDLC will be releasing next week on July 25th. $17.99 USD (€17.99EUR / £14.99 GBP)
There is a multiplayer campaign, but no single player campaign. There are only two single player scenarios and are apparently only for asset familiarization. So I guess if you’re looking for a single player experience, then you’d need to wait for somebody to put something in the workshop.
The ARMA youtubers already have it, I guess, so they’ll probably post videos/impressions a day or two before.
I’ll be checking those videos out before I think about getting it. CSLA cDLC was apparently not very good, so I think a few people will hang back to see what it’s like. However, it’ll probably be good with the known participating developers involved and Bohemia’s sales return data for CSLA advising them to release a decent product.
The Steam page was updated to indicate the vehicles, weapons, etc. being included. The US side will be the 2nd Armored Division units. No specifics for German side mentioned.

Unless we are going to use it for our Military Monday nights, I'll be passing.

so i got it and initial impressions are good Map is awesome and MASSIVE, and is the standout bit by far! Very few "reused" building assets which is really nice, decent looking rivers, very well done hedgerows with breaks in em so there not a solid barrier, my only thing about it is that it would have been nice to have a "no war" version of it, the current one has fortifications, destroyed buildings, dead cows, shell craters etc all over it, which isnt a bad thing by any stretch, just would be nice to have a "clean" version The units are all well made and solid, although i really do hate how the "200 uniform variants" are basically just the same 2 or 3 uniforms with different ranks on them, honestly just clutter in my opinion, if you want unit ranks then use the in-built arm patch system! The vests and backpacks are all different though. The vehicles are all well done to, my only thing, not being an tank guy, is that its very tank heavy, but if your a tank guy you'll love it. Theres no trucks for the allied side though, although being an armoured division that might be accurate? One thing i did notice is that it has its own modules and added stuff to, so the default slow mo vault is now a quicker jump, your gun auto-lowers when your up against a wall, and it has its own revive system, havent decided if i like them or not yet All in all though i'd say its worth it

I'll get it if it becomes required for our weekly sessions. I only play ArmA with you guys. I've tried playing ArmA in solo mode in the past but I get bored rather quickly.

I was looking at Youtube videos of gameplay. It's seems like there is a performance hit, using this map. I didn't see any gameplay where it was smooth. What was your impression?

I'm same as Panzer, "I'll get it if it becomes required for our weekly sessions." So I'll watch this thread for developments.

Im on the fence...I really like the idea of the premade coop campaign. Would be cool to play that with others but like Panzer, I only play ARAM with you guys.
Ill grab it if we need to use it for Mondays...(preferably while it still on sale)

I ended up getting it. I posted some screenshots in the other thread. I didn't have much time to spend with it, but the map really looks good. I didn't get to test all the units and vehicles yet, but those that I looked at were good.
This cDLC was made by several mod communities that I've used content. (IFA team for WW2 Saturday a few years ago. There are map makers Tempaa and Survin' who made a lot of maps that were or currently are on our server. Laxmann did the sounds. He's a well known sound guy and I used his stuff years ago. I figured I'd kick some money to them to pay back for the hours of the free stuff they did.
It's up to Meatshield if he wants to put it on the server, as that will require server space and time, etc.
We have a crapton of mods and cDLC already. We don't _need_ to get this, but I think it would be cool to put in our rotation of missions.

I'm good with purchasing for Monday sessions if Meat and Saghen would like to use the resources. Like Saghen said, we've gotten a lot of use from free content, this would reward them a bit.

I decided to go ahead and purchase Spearhead 1944. I believe I saw a message when I put it into the Cart that the discount would expire tomorrow, Aug 1, so I went ahead. And as Saghen and Gin said, it's good to get some money to the devs considering all the time we have we have spent using Arma.
I have it installed and I ticked the DLC and loaded it ok. Just a warning, it does take more time to load (naturally), but it does load and looks good to me.

Looks like Meatshield, prof, gin, trichome, creeper and I have it right now. I guess we probably have enough people to add it to the server, pending Meatshield's approval.
