Not a big fan of his movies. Some are okay, but nothing has stood out as truly remarkable. There are a couple of his I have yet to see, "Pan's Labyrinth" and "The Shape of Water," perhaps they'll change my mind. His remake of "Nightmare Alley" was unnecessary. Then again, remaking anything from the 30s and 40s well is going to be quite hard. DePalma proved us it could be done quite well, however, with "Scarface."

Yup, I'd say the vast majority of Americans only recognize her as "Anna" from Predator. I looked at her credits and she's a Mexican actress who has mostly done films and tv shows indigenous to Mexico.

@Mr_Blastman Pan's Labyrinth was good. The Shape of Water I didn't like and I don't understand why it got Best Picture and Best Director. Darkest Hour was Best Picture IMO. https://www.imdb.com/event/ev0000003/2018/1

Speaking of Del Toro, I have not seen all of his films but I think he did quite a good job with Blade 2 and his debut Hollywood film "Mimic" is very underrated. I saw Pan's Labyrinth once and thought it was decent but I never understood all of the hype at the time it was released.

Guillermo also made Hellboy. I love Hellboy. But the reboot was terrible. There was a girl at my work that was Hellboy girl twin sister.

I only saw the first Hellboy movie from Del Toro but then forgot about it a week or so later. I don't fault Del Toro here. I just didn't find the Hell Boy story and character very interesting.

I finish episode 1 of Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. Scared me to death.

We took mom to see Tickets to Paradise for her birthday yesterday. My mom loved it. My sisters loved it. My verdict: not a movie for us men. Julia not hot

Start of All Quiet On The Western Front. German soldiers taking clothes off the bodies of their dead soldiers, sending those clothes some place where women wash them, fix them up with sewing machines, put them on trucks that will take them to new soldiers. I watch hundred war movies and this is a first.

Yes, those scenes of the grim passage of the 'recycled' uniforms was disturbing and moving.
However, without much background story of the characters that was a vital feature of the book and previous dramatisations, I felt no empathy for the main protagonists.
No bullying Himmelstoss, no moving visit to his poorly mother suffering from the deprivations of the Allied blockade, no feeling he didn't belong in his previous lifestyle that fleshed out the characters.
I felt that it was hard to know who was who of his comrades
And the ending of the two main players Paul and Kat, was preposterous.

The battle scenes? Yes there was a lot of mud and explosions, but lacked the grim reality of death and mutilation as depicted in 'Ryan' or 'Paschendalle'. Perhaps toned-down to reach a wider audience certification-wise.

Please don't spoil the movie, BD-123. I watch 30 minutes and gone to work.

Watched the life of Mozart. While the musician in our family is the wife, I do like his music and learned a lot about the trials and tribulations of the musical savant.

All Quiet On The Western Front, best World War 1 movie I ever seen. Better than 1917 which I did not like.
