I watched the next to last episode of the season for "Westworld" last night.
It's a fantastic show.

I'll check those 2 out as I can't rely on Hollywood to deliver a half-decent war film any more.
You can add the Indonesian film "The Raid" to your list. It's a simple story about a police raid on a gangland boss's tower block, and ends up being like a cross between Ong Bak and the most recent Dredd film. It's extremely visceral, with some great fight scenes.
All I've mentioned are included in Amazon Prime if you have that.
I thought I'd dip my toe into it for half and hour, and ended up watching the whole film. Utterly fascinating. I'm so glad people still make films like this.
It's a cross between Clockwork Orange and American Psycho, in which the population of an experimental tower block, stratified by class and wealth, breaks down once the power is off. The most bizarre thing is that while some of the characters can obviously leave to conduct their day jobs, they still return home to anarchy and civil war. I really like JG Ballard stuff, and this was a great adaptation of yet another of his dystopian futures.
The last film that really made me think about what I was watching was probably Under The Skin, which was both creepy and brilliant in equal measure.
Today I'm watching Band Of Brothers..It's an engaging story for me and I like the length 6 DVD's..Having it on DVD allows me to get up cook something,,walk the dog and continue watching where I left off,,Better than watching " A` Christmas Story" That's on again on TBS and TNT all day

Not what I was expecting at all. I thought I'd be getting something light-hearted with lots of songs. Ok,we did get a few songs eventually but it was a lot darker in places than I expected.Thoroughly enjoyed it though. 4.5/5

I went to go see A Monster Calls last Friday. It stars Liam Neeson (voice acting) Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver and newcomer 12 year old Lewis MacDougal, who's character, Conor, shines. He was a great find.
I can't recommend A Monster Calls high enough. The story of loss is handled beautifully, realistically (acted and portrayed in the realistic settings) and catharticly.
Visually this movie was a treat combining 2D animation, water colour palettes, and a breath taking style. I liked it's artisitic view a lot due to it's uniqueness. While beautiful it managed to avoid that polished Hollywood look that appears fake. The fantasy elements and style wrap themselves around the live action sections in a way that perfectly segues into the fantasy world.
We all face death and need to deal with those who leave us. This movie handles it poignantly while not being preachy, heavy handed or with too much syrup.
SUNDAY I watched Sherlock season 4 episode 2. Great show!

The screening of a Clockwork Orange I viewed happened in 2016.
My definition of a film being new is: first run film still being shown at major theaters.
