Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it seems to me the people IN the BBC absolutely HATE Clarkson and his Cromagnon show... and that a few may have been gunning to get him fired for years already.

Imagine: Clarkson winds up as if to punch, in jest or as joke... 15 minutes goes by, a call to 0118 999 881 999 119 7253 is made and when the ambulance shows up his lip is bleeding and swollen... calls made to BBC director... Clarkson is called to their office and is suspended pending an investigation...

I have seen similar false accusations used in the workplace to ruin careers... but without evidence to refute such claims there is little one can do.

The majority of BBC news is drowning in PC bollocks - he is totally the opposite of how they wish their deluded fantasy world to be - so wouldn't surprise me if that scum tried pettyness to get rid of him.

Fire the producer and bleep out the parts they don't want to broadcast. Scheesh.

What about all the tickets that have been sold for the Top Gear Live events this year? Are they going to refund them assuming Clarkson goes. What if Capt Slow and Hamster refuse to do those as well?

What about the season passes people have bought on iTunes? This is going to cost the BBC a pretty penny.Good job I'm not funding the twats.

Rick is exactly right in what he sais. The BBC have had Clarkson in their sights for years. As he put it himself he is a dinosaur when compared with the pc infested, thinly disguised left-wing dominated echelons of the BBC which he works with.

They are finding it increasingly difficult, given the prevailing highly politicized atmosphere to justify making a program that is fronted by no less than THREE, MIDDLE CLASS, WHITE, MEN, with its laddish humor, its open disregard for the environment, its seeming condescension towards people of different race and ethnicity. This is message the BBC as a corporation feel very uncomfortable with.

The fact that it is so popular, in so many different parts of the world, and incidentally generates so much revenue, surely must tell them something. But blind bigotry is just as blind whether it comes from the left or the right.

As for commercial pressures - there are none. The funding for the BBC through the TV License is enshrined in law and would need an act of Parliament to change it. Their income is quite literally guaranteed. Sorry to point this out to you Chucky but if you own a TV in Britain you are required by law to buy a TV license. This money goes directly to the BBC. So we are all "funding these twats".

Sorry Mike but you are wrong on that point. You only need a TV licence if you watch or record LIVE TV. If you just use the TV to play games on,watch DVD's or catch-up services or Netflix then you DO NOT require one. It's just BBC propaganda that would like us to believe that. I've been without one for nearly 2 years and I don't intend to ever have one again,thanks. I won't support them with 1 more penny of mine.

And yes,I have not watched live TV during that time.I'm not an evader.

I've never taken any of the non PC humor seriously, nobody does thats why the show is so popular. It is all tongue in cheek, and Clarkson makes fun of everybody, especially middle aged white men like himself (and Captain Slow).

Frankly Top Gear makes the whole "green" PC revolution go down a bit easier for those of us of a certain age who looked forward as kids to be able to drive fast loud cars on open roads, only to grow up and find that our dream cars are now deemed "inappropriate" "irresponsible" and "selfish". On Top Gear Jeremy and the guys do it anyway, and hilariously suffer the consequences.

Top Gear is definitely more than a car show; I'm an glad the lads stuck together.

Technically you're right mate and I don't blame you. If you have got a TV and all you ever watch is channel 4 news you still have to have a license and that money goes to the BBC.

But I wouldn't like to be in your shoes if the man was to come knocking on your door and you had to try and prove in a court that you HADN'T been using it to watch any transmitted programs, ever. You can make an aerial out of a coathanger as you well know. Many have been prosecuted despite using that defense. Not for a moment suggesting that's what you do but that is how they see it.

It's a government monopoly and they jealously guard and protect it.

The point I was making was the BBC can spend our money any way it wants, and we have virtually no say in it. If that includes not making a program fronted by Mr Clarkson so be it. Personally I think if they don't ditch him this time it won't be long and he knows it.

Thanks for your concern Mike but I'm fully clued up on how TV Licensing operate. I get regular letters from them every month threatening to take me to court because I don't have a licence (they go straight in the bin) and here I am 2 years later and I've yet to see the inside of one.

I have refused their 'Enforcement Officers' or should that be 'salesmen' entry to my property 3 times so far but if they would like to get a search warrant I would gladly let them in but as I have no TV set it would be a wasted effort on their part

I would miss them if they go to Sky, we get the BBC 1 & 2 here and not going to pay through the nose for Sky as well, but ah well their contracts are up at the end of the month anyway, so bye bye top gear.

Sorry, but that's the BBC propaganda at work. I don't have a licence either, completely legally, and I don't have to prove anything. The burden of proof is on them and, as I don't watch live TV, they obviously won't get it. Just ignore them and there's actually very little they can do.

There's more and more of us. I'm sure you've been on the licence free forums. Unfortunately, it looks like the BBC are starting to realise this and I'm pretty sure that we'll see it put on general taxation at some point in the not too distant future
