After re-reading all the complains about DCS, I think, better to write a wishlist than complain. Perhaps someone from Eagle Dynamics read it. :-) So:

Smart scaling.
Realistic AI that behaves like humans, not the Terminator.
Fix things that have been broken for years before doing new things.
Do something about deadlines. I understand it might be hard, but I've never seen a game/sim that is so plagued by deadlines that even the most uncritical customers openly ridicule them.
Make BMP-2s less dangerous to planes than Shilkas and Tunguskas.
Fragmentation. HE shells and rockets are nearly worthless against infantry and light skinned vehicles.
Do something about damage for older planes. The P-51 and FW-190 can absorb incredible amounts of bullets, whereas their IRL counterparts could only take a fraction of the punishment before going down in flames.
Do something about the R-33s (I think. The short range IR missiles on the SU-25T). There is no way a Huey can take a direct hit from one of those and keep flying straight and level, or even fly at all IRL.

This. These two things are my biggest frustrations with DCS right now. One gets me killed when I shouldn't, and the other makes me take risks that get me killed when I shouldn't have had to be there in the first place. The Jedi Master

My list:
* Dynamic Campaign * Kola Peninsula map (a la Jane's F/A-18) and//or Norway map (a la EF2000) * Massively improved ATC * "Human" AI (as opposed to the current superhuman AI) * AI that knows how to manage fuel state (as opposed to F-15 wingmen that burn through their fuel in 10 mins)

Oh, that. A dynamic campaign where you can frag packages yourself like in BMS would be great.

BeachAV8R This man pretty much hit all my wishlists (I quoted the ones I really want as well). Please note the bolded Harrier wish. Maybe add a Phantom and all my sim-dreams would come true.

I'm actually totally bought into Beach's list, too. It's worth noting that VEAO have ambitions towards building out a Falklands scenario (including map and Harrier). Fingers crossed that they're able to deliver...

Moving the sim in some sort of logical direction would be nice, too. And , of course, what everyone else mentioned.

The Crimean Peninsula back from Lock On I've never really understood why it was left out in DCS. It had the same level of detail Georgia has is DCS right? The rest of my wishlist is nearly identical to Beach's. Especially a fleshed out naval side of DCS would really add so much... F/A-18, SAR, Harriers, even ASW would really come to life with a believable (helicopter) carrier environment plus (more) realistic seastate . And when the basic naval improvements are in place (a sort of 'SeaEDGE''), it would open the doors for Falklands, Vietnam, Iraq, WW2 Pacific, etc. etc. Ahh... We can always dream, right? Rick

My understanding is that the 32-bit system they were using had run out of memory addresses to reference all of the objects in Russia, the Crimea, and the terrain expansion into Georgia so they cut the Crimean objects/cities/airfields. DCS is 64-bit now, and it's not like that data disappeared...

Another thing I'd love to see would be something similar to the ARMA3 Steam Workshop integration where you can view SP and MP missions in an online menu context, then download and play them straight into the game. I mean, I don't mind hunting for missions, but it would be cool to have some in-game one-stop shop for additional content.

Ok...I had better contribute something here, having complained loudly! I would not change anything to do with the technical aircraft simulation side of DCS: the technical rendering of the aircraft is, IMHO, generally superb. It is the supporting 'framework' that needs work. I would like to see, as my wishlist, in order of priority:
1) A dynamic, cogent and persistent campaign in which to fly these technically superb simulations; 2)

Ah..accidentally hit the 'post button' mid-thought...to continue from the above....
2) A new terrain and sky engine, with a focus on modeling accurately the environment factors that feature so strongly in real life, such as cloudscapes and texture in the air etc;
3) A real focus on the AI, friendly and enemy, and modeling it to be as accurate as possible...something along the lines that the BoB2 people have done retrospectively on that aging, yet still interesting, simulation of the Battle of Britain..; and finally...
4) Regarding points 1 & 2...the above mentioned campaign to be located in a plausible location: Sabre campaign located in Korea, for example, or if it must be in the Caucuses, then a plausible campaign. What 'plausible' means, of course, is anyone's guess...but I'd like to see it have some internal logic.
These are, of course, big 'asks'...but for a wishlist, I think they'd be my top areas of focus for future DCS titles. Of course, I am under no illusion of the difficulty of doing all this. Point is I'd pay quite a bit to get these things done..either with crowd sourcing or in the increased price of a future product that reflected the added cost of including all this.
Hope this helps..
Apoll

A rework of the ATC, JTAC, AWAC, flight member mechanization to fully work in an MP environment and to be generally improved. It's the kind of object you interact with every flight. It's not glamorous but I can think of a dozen small improvements to ATC alone that would make everyone's life (esp. online) better.
