My take on it:



OK, maybe I was wrong - it looks like you can actually order some.

It would benefit from being truer to its name. They don't
bother to break down the amino acid profile, but as the only
protein source is rice and oats, it's not too good. SoyLent
meant soya and lentil, which along with a grain would make a
fairly decent protein base, but neither are present in this
except for a small amount of soy lecithin. If this is supposed
to be a good quick food concentrate, it would be more effective
if it contained some legume protein. As it is, balanced protein
usage will result in half the rice protein being discarded. Not
particularly dire, but not in line with the philosophy behind
the original "soylent" concept. Also, the oat starch for
carbs is more slowly absorbed than sugars, but not by a lot.
Legume Oligosaccharides would I would think be a better
option there, for the burgeoning hordes of diabetics being
generated by the mainstream western diet.

Ahh, when I was young everyone had a copy of Diet for a
Small Planet on their bookshelf, and knew all this stuff.
Last I looked I couldn't find a hard copy to buy locally.

Erm, if this is real then they should have picked another name!

But, I enjoy the experience of food I don't want to only ever have some slime to drink.

I guess my thread title wasn't good enough - this was about the name being reminiscent of Soylent Green

But ... I like real food. I like eating it, I like making it, I like the smell of it, I like the social aspect of eating with someone. Really don't see it as a worry :P

I don't think the social aspect of eating with others is dependent on the food itself, or people wouldn't enjoy eating at McDonald's as a group.
