Your example is unclear. Are you saying the atom went thru the wormhole or the photon? On rereading it seems perfectly clear to me. "it travels through a wormhole, in time to arrive at another location where it absorbs the same photon it emitted earlier." That must refer to the atom. Because it's not possible for time to not pass...if it's emitted, and then reabsorbed, time has passed between the emission and absorption even if it's immediately afterwards. It's not concurrent. Yes, it is. No time passes for the photon. It does not exist in time. Its emission and absorption are simultaneous in its own frame of reference. The photon has to have been emitted before it can be absorbed. No, if there were any interval of time between the emission and absorption, the photon would travel at less that c, and it would have a rest mass. Current physics says this doesn't occur. Of course, the same thing was thought about the neutrino until recently, however the neutrino never had the level of theoretical support (Maxwell, etc) behind it that the photon does for the necessity of its massless and timeless existence. It would also require a wormhole that is approx the length of an atomic diameter if your intent is for the atom it left behind to suddenly be in front of it before it's had the chance to travel any measurable distance. Huh? The atom can travel across the whole universe, then sit and wait a few billion years. That has no effect on the photon, which doesn't use time. If I get in my car, back out of the driveway and then pull right back up I didn't go anywhere but I still left and returned and time passed. Obviously on a macro scale it takes more time, but it's the same principle. Your car isn't a massless particle travelling at c, so the rules are different.

Am I the only one that finds Matthew Mcconaughey extremely irritating as an actor? I've always been pretty apathetic towards him. I never understood why he made it so big. He's an average actor IMHO.

Am I the only one that finds Matthew Mcconaughey extremely irritating as an actor? What actors do you enjoy watching? there may be a few others out there who do not care for MM. I do not find MM irritating, but I do not actively seek out his movies. I have enjoyed his acting in a few films, but have also skipped a lot of his movies that do not appeal to me. His earlier films are pretty weak, but he may be growing as an actor only in the past year or two (Dallas Buyers Club and Mud comes to mind). Only time will tell if this trend continues...

What actors do you enjoy watching?
This question got me thinking (my head still hurts) Most of the actors that I like are ether dead or so old that they soon will be.
I think it is more about matching the part to the actor's personality than any thing. Matthew Mcconaughey seems to have no personality so it's going to be hard to match him to a part.
Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't act to save his life but a lot of the characters he played match his personality so well he didn't need to.

Fully agree with Rumpel. For example, Matthew Broderick is a very good actor. I thought he was great in both "Glory" and "Ferris Buellers Day Off" but he was horribly miscast in "Godzilla". There are certain actors who I always enjoy seeing regardless of what the plot and setting of the film are. Gary Oldman, Russel Crowe and David Duchovny are among those.

Russel Crowe I like. Why I have no idea. Just his style of acting I guess. I haven't seen every thing he's done but the ones I have seen I liked.
Another one that just came to mind is Kiefer Sutherland. I just wish he was a bit more discerning in the roles he chooses. I also like his father. He helped make Kelly's Heroes one of my favorites.

Most cetainly not, and usually i don't care for actors, only judge the movie, but in this case is cetainly a turn off to see the movie. If it wwsn't that so far i havne't see a single movie from Nolan that i don't like, i would certainly let this movie pass.

I thought McConnaughey was pretty good in "Contact". Now we know that Jodie Foster really WAS acting during those sex scenes with him. lol

You mean the "before" and "after" scenes. They had no love scenes. As it was, she acted pretty cold anyway.

If you can demonstrate a paradox from the photon's point of
view, you can be reasonably confident that the proposition
is impossible. What I've pointed out is troublesome, but not
clearly a paradox. However, my musings weren't exhaustive;
I suspect that further digging might reveal a solid paradox.
I would point out that Einstein discovered relativity by
considering the photon's point of view.

As a follow-up to her enormous 2012, which included an Oscar win and starring in one of the biggest movies of all time, Hathaway decided to take some time off, to star in an indie "One Song," the music-centric drama that just premiered at Sundance, and to reteam with her "Dark Knight Rises" director.
Hathaway explained that her time on the set of the most recent Batman movie and her experience with Nolan helped initiate her into the far-off world of "Interstellar."
"I guess I was pretty lucky when I was working on ['The Dark Knight Rise'] to know what the world was. There was just a huge question mark," she said. "After I read the script, I said, �This is fantastic. How on earth is Chris going to pull this off?� Then you think, �Oh, it�s Chris Nolan. He just will.� "
Wes Bentley, who was in Park City with the young Abraham Lincoln biopic, "The Better Angels," had a tougher time getting to learn about the new project. "I came in and met before I knew anything about the film, and then I was locked away in a room after I got the part to read the script," he said. "I didn�t receive my own script until much later. Then there was a special envelope that you could tell if it�s been opened or not. It�s all very nerve-wracking."
But once production began, both Hathaway and Bentley said that the scope and ambition of the project became the focus. "For as much as I can say, it was very ambitious, and what�s interesting about it is it�s not really science fiction as much as it�s based in real theoretical physics," Bentley said. "I think it will be very interesting for a lot of people."
Hathaway took the same careful approach to speaking about her time on the project, but she almost slipped when she mentioned the fantastic sets that Nolan is using, an interesting tidbit for fans desperate for details.
"I got to set every day and my mind was blown day after day after day, just by the sets because we � Oops. I can�t tell you," she said. "Never mind. Never mind. Never mind."

Going Interstallar in 283 days McConaughey, Hathaway, Caine, Chastain, and Damon among others...what a cast. Is the True Dectective tele show with McConaughey and Woody Harrelson available? I heard some reviews on the wireless praising the show.

Looks excellent. For me, I like McConaughey. Drama, comedy or action and he can do it. To me, he's got a calm and comfortable demeanor in front of the camera, as if it isn't there. Kind of like Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg and others that makes their character believable that way instead of forcing it on you. Kind of a soft sell approach.
As for Borderick in that Godzilla movie, it wasn't so much that he was miscast as it is the movie was horrible and you can't worry about the cast in a POS like that. Like a SyFy channel movie, just do what you can, the movie's going to suck anyway. LOL
