This looks like an interesting concept for ArmA 3. Has anybody here tried it? If so, care to comment on it? ALiVE

I'm tempted to download the files and check it out on the ALiVE public server. The client downloads are large. One part alone is nearly 5GB.

Snake I think you might be looking at the mod list for that server.

Snake I know which files you saw now that I have been on the server they have and that is the mod packs that they are using. It is a group of custom weapons and other things like vehicles and sound packs. That bit is a little over 5GB for the mods.

I did download the file that I need yesterday from the ALiVE web site. I'll install it and try it out tomorrow. Can you play/test this mod offline? Thanks!

Yes you can test it in the editor and it works beautifully and works great with Zeus as well. My suggestion Snake would be to watch the tutorial videos that the ALiVE crew has on youtube and follow their directions. You can place the modules down and link them together to create all the goodies that you might want in a decent singleplayer mission(s) setup. It really doesn't take long to just put something down and see how it works. BUT again you do want to watch the videos and play with it one module at a time to make sure you are doing it right.

Reschke,
Would you have time to chat with me on Teamspeak regarding the ALiVE mod? Perhaps this weekend? I want to ask you some questions about the mod and some of the addons for it.
Thanks, Snake

I put up a 40 slot ALiVE server. Feel free to join and try it out. There are co-op missions in the rotation. Currently, Insurgency is running.
- Put ALiVE in the ArmA 3 MP browser filter.
Server Name: US West ALiVE - 71st Calvary - TS3/TFAR | ALiVE+CBA_A3+JSRS 2.1 Password: (None required)
- or use Remote
ip: 72.46.152.196 port: 7302
* To join you will need the following mods: ALiVE, CBA_A3, JSRS 2.1, Task Force Radio
I'm planning to use TFAR for comms, but it seems to conflict with other addons or game features at the moment. VAS, Revive and Zeus are all having issues with TFAR running. As soon as those problems are resolved, I'll add TFAR for comms.

Thanks, Snake I can probably talk with you for a while about it over the next week or so; my work schedule is all messed up right now so the best thing is put a list of questions together and I can answer them or at least get the actual dev guys to poke their heads in over here and answer some questions about it.

Hey Reschke,
I wanted to ask about your experience with ACRE & TFAR comms mods. I looked at both and I'm kind of settled on TFAR. Assuming you read my post above, I won't install it until it stops breaking other scripts like Revive and VAS. The radios are cool, but not at the expense of other things that already work well. ACRE seems a bit dated in comparison. It was made for ArmA 2 if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, I put the server up to test missions that I build. I love that aspect of ALiVE. You want to track player stats? Drop in a database module. I'll be going through all the tutorials this week to learn more about it. I'm set with things for now. This has to be one of the best mods ever made for ArmA! Player persistence, player stats, ongoing campaign, the War Room, etc. I like it regardless that it is an alpha. Given time it will only get better and more optimized.
Also, I wanted to ask the ALiVE developers some questions, but I forgot my username over at the BIS forums. They have a "forgot password" utility, but nothing for forgot username. It's some variation of Snakeyes, but I don't know what. I'm not an active poster over there and it has been several years since I registered. You get 5 wrong tries before it boots you off for 15 minutes and lets you try again. I'm waiting to hear from support at BIS so I can get logged in again. That is frustrating.
In the ALiVE War Room the world map has all the icons on it that represent different groups. Does the icon indicate the location of the server for each group or is that simply derived from the group leader's home address? I have a group set up and the player stats are tracking, but I don't see any icon for my group on the map.
Thanks, Snake

As far as I know the icon represents an actual group and not a server location. I will ask them and point them this way also as a group they can reach out to for some players to help.

I got it sorted. In the set up you click on the world map for your approx. long/lat coordinates. That is where the group icon will be placed.
