Some images from tonight's flying: Just enjoying the view - hoping to find those super/ultra render distance mods Rider mentioned. Coming into Gelen. Bast decided to circle around me for a bit. And then decided to poke my eye out. After which he went to fly out, turned back in to fly over my left wing and NEARLY hit it - the game counted it as a collision, broke my left wingtip off and he got kicked from the server! He apologized but I wasn't worried anyway I had yet to refuel and re-arm so doing a repair at the same time didn't impede me. Oh well we were having fun and chatting. We also dropped a fair number of cluster bombs. Bast got to find out the AT cluster bombs on the Blackshark weren't going to kill a T-80 after a couple direct hits. One of my 87's wiped out the entire convoy of one of those patrols - of which we later all circled around like vultures when they respawned. --- In terms of stability we were good. We had about a half dozen guys in - 3 of which had pings of over 230! Even with that there was only fraction of a second minor warps, and they were sporadic and random so it wasn't really something I was concerned with. Framerates were good excluding when the cluster bombs hit, the the rates dropped but for me anyway it was a brief period at about 12fps until they finished exploding - while looking directly at them from about 2000ft distance, F2 cam of the aircraft that dropped em. --- More patrols please! Wiping one out with CCIP CBU87 and half of another with CCIP Mk84 was entertaining!

Eh Wesley thanks for the good report.
I am looking at the road in between Novo and Krymsk for multiple convoys. As I mentioned before- my only issue with the convoys is that the potential to get them all bunged up on the bridges over small waterways (or big waterways for that matter.)
Crew's "the Highway" mission never had the same problem but I think the secret to that is that they are moving along a bit slower. So that will be the new convoy area- it's a pretty long road so I'll put a variety of different convoys together... some heavier targets and some lighter ones... and some mixed.

Am I the only one who thinks the Huey tracers are over the top? These tracers can be seen like 8 miles away and from that distance they look like a big orange smoke/flare thingie! They are fun to watch -- especially from a Ground Commander slot. But geeze they throw out a tremendous volume of fire -- good thing those rotor-heads can't hit anything!

Thank you to all the folks who are participating in the v127Beta stress tests. Lots going on at the WC house these days that has kept the Hollo Pointe server at v126 -- family obligations, and an effort to get all the current missions to a best, final state, before moving on to anything new like EDGE (no, I don't have any info/news there). Flew the Road To Persa yesterday and had to (gasp!) fix a couple of logic issues today. The mission edit notes/threat board is All Clear now.

Eh crew. Things are going strong on the 127 front- not perfect but not bad!
Question about the Huey- is the tracer effect too much? I mean- I've looked at it from 10 miles away and know its a Huey shooting at stuff but it seems a bit too bright.
Is that what it's really like or is it overkill?

Eh guys.
Did that DNS flush as they suggested and have since dropped off the radar somehow. I'm trying to figure out the issue. There are plenty of servers online but I can't seem to get past an interface problem in the MP GUI.
I'm working on it but we're down until further notice.

Got home from work, restarted DCS on Hollo Pointe and it came up without a problem. I did not do the flush.

I was able to join without any shenanigans. Just started the game up and connected like normal.
I experimentally determined (inadvertently) that the SU-25T IR jammer is actually awesome. Also at the same time I learned that the Full Throttle mission units have been moved around.
Then I died.

Well good thing I read this BEFORE I tried to play - I forgot entirely! I signed onto the Firehouse tonight and conducted 3 sorties, which I would like to discuss. Why yes, that is indeed an entire payload of CBU-87s (Set to 500ft pop and 500rpm) and two mavericks. I have been wanting to really see what the 87's are capable of. I set out towards Bullseye, where a formation of T55s and BMPs were racing to engage a Bradley (the last of it's wave). I dropped two at a time, and found great effectiveness wiping out nearly the entire formation. Being overly aggressive on strafing the survivors, I got my wing taken off by a BMP-1 and died. Long story short - if used correctly, those 87's are DEADLY and don't cause much a issue to framerate either! (verus light armour) My second sortie I set out with two mavericks, and a mix of CBU-87s (same config) and 97s (700ft pop) for a column stuck on a bridge. No problem I thought, as I rifled away my mav's on a Shilka and one T-80U of the formation. I followed that up with all my CBU-87s spot on target. That caused a hiccup to my framerate, but there was like 4 of them and that concentrated - ok. Didn't cause any damage at all save an SKP-11 that died. So I followed up with ALL the 97's again right on. That took out a couple tanks...... A few gun passes (hard to find targets admidst all the smoke....) and I landed at Krymsk. Krymsk ATC was having a very bad day apparently, and welcomed me to their airport to park. However, they didn't want to let me leave. They really wanted some company. Unfortunately, I had to leave. I had unfinished business. I took on this last sortie a CBU-97, four Mk-84s, and two TERs of Mk82. I arrived at my target and dropped all four of the Mk84s right on and dropped that bridge. However, this T-80U had the nerve to keep on living. So I dropped the CBU-97 with a 300ft spread. No dice. Placed the entire Mk82 barrage right on him and again, he persevered. At this point, I was furious and sent him to Hades with the gun.

I noticed that piling up before I went to bed and made a note to bring the tanks around it... so they should go down across the tracks then back up. Frick I can't even tell you how annoying that is.
Moved a few things around and changed the weather... sorry about the snow but we've got to try it out.
Thanks guys...

I hope snow doesn't affect braking performance when landing. The 25T barely stops in time as it is haha.
Now that I know Wesley was dropping cluster bombs on large groups, his score last night makes much more sense. We both took off about the same time, and went for different groups of enemies, and after my first pass I checked my score to see if I hit what I was aiming at. I had a score of 3 or 4 or something, and Wesley had over 10. Thinking that i was a failure as a CAS pilot, I tried extra hard on the next few passes. I checked the score again hoping to have mostly caught up but Wesley had perplexingly increased his score to over 20.
Oh Eno I keep forgetting to ask, are the SA-8s live? A few times I've flown extremely close to them and they dont appear to engage me.

Thinking that i was a failure as a CAS pilot... Terribly sorry! I didn't mean to make you feel bad! I was hunting for clusters though, as I said. I never actually get to watch your work - I notice the kills and score changes but the timing is always as such that F6 is clear. The only kills I caught of yours was one rocket volley and a gun kill. We ought to hunt together some time! I am not sure about the Su-25 or T but with the A-10 it's very easy to swap weapons and get a large payload rung out very quickly. Typically I like to run in low, shallow dives of 7-15 degrees (prefer to level bomb vs. a proper "dive bomb"), post release I'll turn out 15-30 degrees and nose up to nearly 40 degrees. I turn this into a high arcing turn, approaching but not getting to stall speeds (with payload, 200-210 knots), swing the nose around and if I've really gained altitude, I'll make a steep dive so my next run can be done shallow again. I'll repeat until Winchester. I just like to be like a vulture. Imagine 2 or 3 CAS aircraft doing that. I wouldn't want to be those ground troops!

Haha no worries Wesley. I'm very new to the SU-25T and am generally unfamiliar with how effective a CAS pilot is on average. I'm much more comfortable in the shark (having flown it for two or more years), but decided to learn how to fly the toad because of its SEAD capabilities.
I think your flight path away from the target area will not work in the 25T. It has a spectacularly poor power to weight ratio. To give you an idea, it takes the entire runway to accelerate to 300km/h (160 knots). So...your 40 degree climb would quickly result in a stall. Also to the frogs disadvantage, the maximum range for the vikhrs is 12km (6.5 nm) but that is after overriding the launch authorization. The plane normally doesn't let you launch until 8km (4.3nm). The weapons are laser guided so you can only attack one target at a time, then wait a few seconds for the laser to cool down then fire again. The laser only points forward-ish and down so it takes good timing to turn away from the target without it going outside the gimbal limits of the laser. So, to hit multiple targets in a pass you have to go as slow as possible, and due to the pathetic amount of thrust makes climbing a struggle at the end.
Anyway, yes, itd be fun to go after some targets together. I'm up for it any time you see me on the server!

The 11s and 8s are in red state with hold fire. They're targets meant exclusively for the su25ts- to test out the various arms since they used to cause crashes with reliable consistency. The radar SAMs are on hold fire orders and red state so they can still be reliably locked up. IR threat, however, is live. In thinking about it though i made the ir live to allow people to take them over but overlooked the fact that if they're taken over, they'll fire anyway. I'll change that- or make it a return fire order so it's not a total snoozer. On iPad and lazy hence the random adherence to the queens English.

I'm an 'merican hence I get to make up english as I see fit. So just an FYI, the SA8s can't be fired upon with the anti radiation missiles of the SU-25T. I'm not sure if its a bug (it probably is) but unless a radar is tracking you actively the ARM will self destruct after firing. BUT, at least I can still find them easily with the fantasmagoria pod. I just have to get really close to them so I can take them out with some other weapon. I am painfully aware of the IR units being active
