If you are an admin then you can always log in directly onto The Firehouse or Hollo Pointe server and Kick someone through the Player Pool.

I haven't got it to the track yet... have an issue with my tune right now that I'm trying to square away first.

I just went into EB+D and it looks like a respawn condition has messed up so the game progress has stalled. I'm going to go back and restart it but there's a guy in there right now just doing his own thing... I'll wait till he's gone.

I still have dynamic weather activated... but only with 2 systems and there isn't much deviation in them so the weather is sloppy in areas but not particularly windy.

If you find you're getting crappy performance I'm going to suggest that you dial your settings down a bit...

Edit:

Didn't see those other two posts.

The SLMOD settings are still stock, so there is some wiggle room there. I'm going to tighten them back up. Basically if you get a human kill you're kicked- two such kicks and you're banned. You can always come in and plead your case which someone did recently... I'm not a tyrant- I can understand mistakes happen. I'll be happy to look it over and remove from the ban list.

Most of you regulars (including you, Wesley) are on an exclusion list so these rules won't affect you. I say this in the open since you can take for granted you are trusted enough to have this privilege... This isn't to say I urge you to abuse it- of course.

I hear what you're saying about the loadout issue Wesley- my concern is for those OBVIOUS discrepancies- F-15s firing Phoenix missiles... F-15Cs in ground attack with bombs- you know, that kind of thing. If you're not sure then you're not sure... I can review it afterwards. If the guy is being a douche then it makes the decision much, much easier.

Hey guys, just popping in. Hope everything is well. I'm still waiting for ED to polish DCS the hell up a bit before I get the itch again wink

I wouldn't have ever thought you were, my first impression of you was with very high regard!

I guess this is good to know, I thank you for that honor. I believe it was Mol who gave a text warning - in any event, I would only consider a friendly fire kill after a warning or two AND signs that slmod isn't taking care of it (that including kick/ban not working or nobody with the privilege available).

Of course the mod/hack is not acceptable - I just wanted to state that the message "no illegal payloads" in the mission description wouldn't be clear to new players as there is no definition of "illegal" handy.

All right, I spent the last few days setting up my new PC.

I have to say, I didn't realize just how much my Q6600 (3.0 GHz) was holding things back. DCS World really loves that i5-4670K. (4.2 GHz right now; trying to push it to 4.4 GHz, but this chip really sucks and wants well upwards of 1.35Vcore to retain stability at that point. 4.2 GHz already requires 1.25Vcore.)

Unfortunately, I'm at a bit of a standstill thinking about how to refine my HOTAS Warthog DCS profiles with the limitations of the Lua interface (remember, I don't want to use T.A.R.G.E.T. for this if at all possible) and the commands the modules themselves expose, along with the fact that setting up buttons as modifiers means I can't use those buttons as inputs in and of themselves. Otherwise, it would be a cinch to make the F-15C modes work more like the F-16C's with the TMS. (Basically, TMS up/down needs to be target lock/unlock while in BVR mode, while switching between boresight and vertical scan modes when WVR. This should be easy to accomplish using the boat switch like the F-16C dogfight/MRM override switch, which itself should switch modes when changing position...except DCS itself isn't making it easy.)

FC3 aircraft pilots, what are the commands you consider most valuable? I'm not talking the obvious stuff like trim or basic weapons controls, more like all the weird sensor systems and weapon mode adjustments, along with the crapload of autopilot modes that don't match up well with the Warthog's autopilot controls (six or seven bindings to match with a three-position switch and a couple of engage/disengage pushbuttons).

Someone here's gonna want those Warthog profiles real soon, I'm sure. Probably drooling at the tracking info page, waiting for it to appear on the doorstep...that's more or less how I felt for a while.

Sorry man, but that dynamic weather and snow just kills my frame rates. Finally just gave up on Wartweasel. Frames down in the single digits for me. East bound and down wasn't much better. frown

Yeah I spent about 45 min trying to get in last night at firehouse. When finally got in I joined a Huey and got the serrver ping timed out message. I never got in enough to check my frames but with as many people that were on last night it was probably just to much. My pc is old and can only go so fast with its digital walker. I put some tennis balls on the legs and that helped but you can only get a model T to go so fast. So I went over to hollow point and flew the highway till I fell asleep and crashed.

Next month I will have a fararri though.

Okay well maybe I was a bit hasty drawing the line on Dynamic weather. It's since been removed from service on all missions and I won't try sneaking it back in again no matter how neat I think it is.

You're going to have some clouds, and occasionally a hint of fog (that you can see 5 miles in) to add some ambiance to the mission- but other than that I promise I'll behave.

HAHA mol... me thinks if you had the money for one of those, you'd at least upgrade your pc.

As much as I like the dynamic weather, I'd much rather have good group participation. Its a bummer that it kills so many people's computers and causes people to drop out.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one blind.

Oh, also... wanted to explain a couple things about SLMOD> This is pretty rambling but for those of you who are the least bit interested in who it is that's refereeing in the server, this explanation may be handy.

Interestingly enough there are ways to check your stats on SLMOD- both server side as well as mission side. I've added a screenshot of the instructions through SLMOD however if you want to see them for yourself just type in

-stats

It will then run down the same instructions.

I wanted to explain how SLMOD kicks / bans people.

Basically, team collisions with AI / Human, Hits with AI / Human and kills with AI / Human are given a different number of "points."

Let's say I have it configured that a person needs to accumulate 50 points to be kicked from the server and 100 to be banned. (That's pretty close to true, actually). If you collide with an AI (tanker for example- back in the days when those worked) it might cost you 10 points- while if you collide with a human it could cost you 25. Two such human collisions and you would be kicked from the server assuming you didn't have exclusion privileges.

SLMOD is also configured to only capture this event every 10 seconds (again, configurable setting... I'm just using as an example)... so once you've had the collision it won't count another collision for 10 seconds. This frequency is much higher for human collisions than AI.

Once you've accumulated these points, they start to degrade over time using a formula that is weighted against the amount of time you spend in the server. Let's say you spend a lot of time in the server- those points you accumulated start to burn down until you eventually end back at 0.

The other day with "the douche" SLMOD didn't kick him immediately because the stock settings were pretty lax. I've since tightened them up so the basic scheme is that you get more heavily penalized for killing friendly human players versus the AI. AI kills / hits are given SOME latitude- but it's still pretty strict. None of that applies to those of you with exclusion privileges...

Once someone is kicked from exceeding 50 points (and yes, killing a human will do that to you), then you are given one "free pass." Because the points are cumulative, once you've been kicked twice you are banned automatically and won't be allowed back in until a certain amount of time has passed. This is all automatic unless manually entered afterwards.

I can see who banned / kicked who in the bannedclients.lua file on the server... and I can also see when it happens automatically. I can then copy and paste that UCID / user information to the manual entry list and prevent that user from burning down the points necessary to gain access to the server again.

Just remember newer isn't always better. I think the best platform out there right now is the 2600k only based on speed overall. If I were to upgrade right now I would be taking a hard look at one for overclocking and solid sata3 support.

Mol... lol yeah my bad neaner

I agree with ENO... I have the 2500k (i5), there are no significant benchmarks that would convince me to spend a dime more on a new CPU just yet. To be honest, my most significant upgrades came from a SSD and better video card (recently went from a gtx550 to a gtx570 to a gtx760). Everything else has been completely trivial.

ENO, in response to your post above... I may have 'accidentally' destroyed near-blind's crippled aircraft due to extremely poor spatial judgement. I always freak out the moment something like that happens... So when an event like that happens, you're saying I can type in "-stats" and see what my point allowance is?

Stats is more for kills etc... So if you ever wondered how many air to air kills you ever got- or how many ground units destroyed. I don't think it tracks your slmod tk points but that's actually an interesting idea.

You have exclusion privileges- you can't think that after being with us for so long that you wouldn't have exclusion? wink

Sandy Bridge is one hell of an overclocker for sure, from everything I've heard. I built a system for a friend a few years back with an i5-2500K; budget limitations forced me to use the stock HSF. If he wants a CPU upgrade, I'll just tell him to get a water-cooling system with a 2x120mm radiator and push that thing as close to 5 GHz as he can get it, maybe even past that if possible.

The reason I didn't go Sandy Bridge myself was that I wanted the most IPC possible, along with the most recent platform. Going Haswell/Z87 means I get six native SATA III ports instead of just two, along with some new instruction sets that could pay off later...but I'm still not happy about having to push insane voltages that can only be kept in check by custom water-cooling and still only hit 4.4 GHz stably on this chip. A 5 GHz Sandy Bridge chip would probably still perform a bit better than that overall.
