Dangerous man indeed!
So if I understand that right, are our mission files saved on the client side as well? This would certainly cause issues if they are preloaded and a mission changes but the filename stays the same.
Possible? Here's how I am thinking. Remember when many PC problems could be solved by deleting temp files from Windows? I don't know what residual bugs may reside in temp files or DSC files or saved game files BUT....the only way to rule out that factor is for the client to dump all of it after backing up the config files (saved games folder) to reinsert later. Do a clean sweep....then a DCS repair....then reboot. IMO only if the individual that is having the connections issues cleans house should a server or host or mission designer even spend 1 minutes time looking at their end. Make sense?

Definitely not going to hurt anything... and it's certainly a sound problem solving measure.

Killbox 61 / LH Apology. Eh guys. In talking to Mol a bit more about what's happening in the Killbox I learned that despite "return fire" and a (secret) hold fire order, those ships continue to fire at will. I made a quick test mission with the Kirov (CGN) and put an A-10 in its vicinity and the A-10 eats the green wiener BIGTIME. It's awful to watch. Anyway- my DEEPEST apologies to anyone who has flown killbox- especially the Long Haul variant that has quite a bit more flying involved to get in theater. My intention was that if you left the ships alone, you would be left alone. I will IMMEDIATELY adjust Killbox so that the enemy taskforce is "inbound" so there will be a few hours of respite from the SA10 style attacks. I'm not taking out ALL sams- so you need to stay on top of it... but the threat will be significantly reduced. In addition, I have posted the bug report at ED. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1736898#post1736898

Possible? The mission is downloaded to the Client at the time of a Join. This is, IMHO, a security flaw, as the mission is then available to the Client to use later (please don't tell anyone about this 'feature'). I way to think about this - when you Shoot The Taxis in Riders ot Storm a little midi is played - that midi file was dl'd to your Client machine as part of the .miz. I would think that the mission would be downloaded each time, overwriting the previous file. But I don't know how that works, except that I can set the Mission Load triggers here and upload to Hollo Pointe and they work fine. --- I would like to observe Molasses (and raven) in Hollo Pointe to watch their Pool ping times - to see if they are increasing with time. I've seen this particularly on Friday evenings where I have trouble staying connected - my ping time will increment about one pointe each second. Well, I see 1.2.4 is out. I'll start that update on raven's machine. Hopefully it will be done before lunch so I can start the update on this computer. WC

^ you might wanna edit that part out.....
I found one miz file by accident in a specific folder.. turned out to be an older version of the highway (no Fighters).
Deleted it as It was old, and I didnt want to tinker with something that wasnt mine.
Once a Dedicated Server App is done, I can Run it on my Operton 16 Core Server Box :p

We have seen where embedded .miz files for a Load Mission trigger can include embedded .miz files. This makes the top-level .miz file size larger than it needs to be - like double or more - resulting in a longer download time on a Join. I would be inclined to simply have the *name* of the next mission(s) in the mission file, not a whole, complete copy of the next mission(s). The path is not really needed, as this is 'remembered' already by both the Client and the Server. WC

Eno, lemme know if The Firehouse updated A-OK. And how long it took? I need to update Hollo Pointe, too.

raven's machine is at 353 MB out of ~1330 MB, after 3 hours. A rough calculation says it'll be done about midnight... On a DSL connection. I'm using the auto-update feature.

I've been home for an hour and raven's d/l hasn't moved off of the 353 MB.
I am going to cancel that and go to bitTorrent.

Eh guys... I'm terminating my download and I'm going to put the server back up for a couple days. I was down to 2kb / sec and in 10 hours downloaded 235 megs of 1 gig.
I'll look at the torrent later to see if there are more leachers than seeders...
Anyway, for those of you who want to wait- Firehouse is back up.

Got the uTorrent going on Hollo Pointe now, too. DSC World, CA, A-10C and FC3 are seeding from northern Colorado now.

First new mission for 1.2.4: Eno's Eastbound and Down... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ls-QEleksIFeaturing a number of different challenges: Ground Commanders Red (Abkhazia) and Blue (Russia): Russia has a blocking / holding force at Sochi airbase. Its proximity to the Abkhazian border has made it a lucrative target. Subsequently, Abkhazian forces have taken to the road just short of the border an hour from Sochi airbase. It will be up to the ground commander on red to organize his forces for an assault. These forces significantly outnumber blue to balance out blue's airpower advantages. If victorious, reinforcements will be made available to red to buff up defenses and replenish expended ordinance. KA50s are available for support and recce. SU25Ts are available for SEAD of radar threats and support. Both air assets are located at Gudauta. Russian ground commander needs to hold off the incoming forces long enough for Hueys to make a number of trips in to evacuate remaining personnel. They will only be lifted a short distance to safety, then transported by road to their final destination. It gives the Hueys a mission (I'm also including them in Frank the Tanked for training purposes.) It is mostly a "boot and scoot" mission for the hueys until the mission is accomplished, after which they will be able to participate alongside the KA50s. If the Russians need to fall back they can regroup with incoming reinforcements and go on the offense. A-10s and SU25s will be available to help make this happen. Both are an integral part of the operation as long range SAMs hamper air ops. Regardless of how they are employed, GC has overall command on both sides and both are tasked with capturing / recapturing Sochi airbase at all costs. Russia has some aircraft positions available at Sochi to help in the evacuation process- but if overthrown they may need to retreat to maykop to rearm. Long range support is available from Gelen (Maykop is 30nm closer) where another flight of SU-25Ts and A-10s is available initially. They have free range of weapon selection but time is a critical factor and a swift, decisive blow against enemy armor may be enough to even the odds and buy some time. The initial steps of this mission are the most hazardous- until the SAM threat is pared back. Once that is complete it really becomes a dynamic exercise performing the missions all of these aircraft were designed for. The SAM threat is a requirement to encourage coordination with ALL available platforms- in this case the SU25 will really shine. CA resources are basically just laid down out of formation and will depend on the GC to organize as he desires. I have two GCs per side as there are a large number of resources to manage. They will need to coordinate their efforts. I'm not sure if I'll allow "pilots to control vehicles" or not- I'll measure that with feedback in here. Anyway, I'm putting the last touches on that tonight and adjusting Frank the tank to accommodate the huey and they'll be available when I get home from work tomorrow afternoon. I have also started downloading the torrent files... so hopefully that will speed up the process. It's running at 2.5mbs right now so should be done in the next 40 minutes. (EDIT: Now at 4mbs... wow. I'm going to leave it uploading for the week. To EVERYONE: If you're running a server, don't forget to open the earlier 1.2.3 mission files, change the name and resave them BEFORE flying.

They wont, and they'll complain and rant on ED Boards that their missions are broken... and then be like "oops", when someone from ED asks if they did.

Me too- hence why I posted it! I had already re-saved but not re-named and had issues last night with weapons so today I re-named and saved again and hosted Odyssey Dawn again and there still seems to be a problem with 65Ds exploding in mid air and GBU 12s missing targets like never before. Time will tell if this is just me and mine or if it's an issue for all.

On occasion when I get that weird behavior I've had to go into the miz file (as a zip) and empty it out... everything but the miz file itself. You need to reconfigure a few things in the ME but it may be worth it. Remember OD is an old old old mission- straight from 1.1.1.1 or earlier. May need to let the game reload a lot of those files.

All that went way over my head....but thanks. If it continues to be a problem mission I'll just dump it.
