It's pretty close to a first run through. The main issue I'm worried about is performance with the amount of vehicles which will be in there...I guess the plus side is that the Musorian combat units are very spread out...frontage of about 15km...and depth of around 60-80km from the Recce units through to the tail of the main body!

@Skate: Agreed on the blonde...very nice screen there WT!

The refresh rate or Hz is 240 for this model, there are some 60hz and 120hz models as well. My 27" asus is 144hz. It's all connected via HDMI so whatever my guard can push that's what I will see. I am also going to get another gcard for sli to boost my frames on this beast. It was cheaper to get the 46" that 2 more 27" matching monitors and the triple monitor stand to mount them on the side of the current one.

240hz whilst running on your PC? I know that TVs have the ability to run at 120hz/240hz refresh rates, but IIUC, they only intersperse(?) the same frames to achieve this refresh rate because they are limited by the source material.

edit...the pics of your tele above look sweeeeeet!!

Yeah after further investigating 1080p is limited to 60hz. My XBOX is the same 60hz and it look phenomenal on my 55". The 120/240hz is from interpolating. Basically the tv fills in the gaps if any. Blue rays are limited to 60hz as well so I don't think I am gonna even notice. Sure the asus was 144hz refresh BUT when it comes to TV's doubtful I will ever notice it. Now response time I.e. 5ms, 2ms etc THAT IS THE KEY. I believe mine is below 5 and my contrast ration is like off the charts on that model.

Besides 60fps in DCS with the settings I run, even on the 144hz asus I can't get anywhere near 60fps steady. So in a nutshell GAME ON!!!

120Hz is used for 3d (60 FPS in Each Eye), and Double Cranked NTSC Video.

144hz, is very limited uses, and most GFX Card have issues with it.

Hey blindone, I just got around to seeing this today. That looks awesome! Makes me wish I had the tools/skills to work aluminium as well^^

Thanks X.. It i spent quite a bit of time working on cars when I was younger so I naturally like working with the metal over wood. I have some better pictures of the whole process as I made it somewhere.

Monitor tech is a trade off, if you want true 120hz performance you are limited to 1080p resolution and crap tn panel viewing angles, plus you gotta have a gpu that can guarantee 120hz in game while you play. Then there is the ips monitors which have nice resolutions of 2500x1620 and great viewing angles but are slow response time and limited to 60hz. From what I've seen the 120hz monitor are only useful in competive shooters like bf3, but for dcs 60hz is plenty good. In fact the ips monitors might be well suited to dcs with great view angles and all the tir head movement in game.

Surprised that asus or dell hasn't combined these 2 technologies into one monster high end monitor. There is an indie factory in Korea that is making the only 120hz ips monitors, and there's a pretty high demand for them. I could see these becoming popular in about 5 years.

I did a couple of test flights in Gordo's new mission today and this one really rocks people. I'll be looking forward to an MP flight.

I am certainly hoping so. We will have to wait for the green light from Gordo though.

Just a quick shot in a instant action mission, this is 1920x1080, running around 40fps.

WC has already contacted me and no issue at all hosting it on Holle Pointe and certainly be happy as a pig in S#$t if it's hosted on Firehouse Eno. Still a little bit more to do; almost have the main body ready to go and then she'll be ready to go.

Blooze: Any feedback mate? Any issues with performance or stuff happening out of sequence?

I am not familiar enough with the mission to know if something would be out of sequence or not but everything seemed to be working in concert from what I have seen so far. My frames took a brief dive at certain points but that happens in every mission I fly and it has become nearly impossible to pin it to a specific cause. Buildings?,traffic?,explosions?,dust clouds?.....who knows for sure....and now there's the latest "smoke bug frame killer" that some claim came with the latest patch, not to rule out flatulence by the client. I'll fly it again in the morning and PM you if I notice anything important.

Mission is ready for a hitup I think. Might well be issues with performance givent the amount of units involved.

Download link to mission and briefing materials etc:
9th Musorian Div Attack Download

Overview of the battlespace (not including friendly airbases to the South. Note: the main action occurs across a 15km front and about 80-90km of depth. It'll take a good 4 hrs for the final elements of the Musorian main body to reach their kicking off points for their final assault. Within that 80km zone is a helluva lot of units coming our way!

Localized Area of Operations for AO Wombat: Note the various companies are setup for the main expected Northern Axis of advance.

Image shows location of JFO/JTAC Teams and their respective AO's (note: the Musorians will go through different JFO AO's so expect some handing over of task's as the enemy situation develops.

Been trying to get online with TV to get this mission up and running. I'm working on it!

EDIT:

I got it up- having some network issues on my phone.

Su-25T slots have graciously been added by Gordo as well. Please submit feedback so that adjustments can be made where necessary. Also, some additional input on the status of the smoke issue would be appreciated.

I flew for about an hour with no issues. Everything smoooooth....frames very good and consistent regardless of map area, smoke or anything else.
