WOW - Pirates is ready for v123.

Ships are working fine - at least the ones in this mission: armed speedboats, cargo ships, tankers, and Molniyas.

It is all A-10Cs, and it is all at night. Bring your NVGs and get ready to Mark Points.

We the Blue are looking for pirate gunboats that are both attacking our vessels and escorting Red ships into Insurgent ports. It's tough to spot them, because when they have captured a ship they tie up their boats close along side - so it takes an in-your-face inspection to see if the ship is in any danger.

Ships may be OK on a pass but later are captured by pirates.

Our Blue ships will fire off flares - the Red ships will try to escape back to the pirate bases.

These A-10Cs have Tracers at Night - our pilots wear sunglasses -

Eh Aviancer- glad you've shared it with us. I've watched through it and always smile when I hear familiar voices- Gordo's soothing JTAC voice always gives me a bit of an itchy trigger finger, however... During that part of the video I was sitting in my camp room looking for things to destroy.

Did you "rinse" your video footage through any sort of filters before putting them together or was this purely fraps type capture? I've been wanting to put together a dramatic Firehouse video for awhile and while reading some of the DIYs it looked like a lot of the effort is in making all the video look the same... But all that stuff is point and click... finding all the right footage is the daunting part!

Looked good though- clearly you know your way around the cockpit (why do I cringe when I say that?!) Sweetest was asking me earlier if I knew how much experience you had with A-10C and whether or not you two were at the same level. I may just try to keep that video a secret from her lol- though as Wheel points out she was able to get her aircraft on the ground while not knowing any of the keys for flaps, speed brakes, landing gear, wheel brakes, engaging nosewheel steering... so she has potential!

Aviancer -
Neat stuff! Fun to watch the videos and like what you put together. In fact, SimHQ has the Video Gallery that you could link this into.

I had my Track IR cap on while watching and was turning my head in the same directions at most of the time you were.

Thanks for putting this together! I bet it took a while - nice music track. (I want to see an A-10 video to The Doors :-) )

Hey all, just thought I'd mention this in case there's an easy fix that can be applied:

A bunch of us were in Operation Bactria at the weekend, and I went off to tanker when I ran low on fuel. Thing is, the tanker (Texaco) slowed down to 163 KIAS when I called them up for a refuel!

That can't be normal, right? I had a full load of Mavs and GBUs and I couldn't control the Hog to save my life.

Eno funnily enough I was in an A-10 at the time; I'd virtually gone winchester on my Hog and was sending out my SPI and talking on Aviancer onto other ground elements I hadn't had a chance to hit. We also worked with some KA-50 drivers to whack some BMP-3's.

Eh guys on a side note. I'm not sure what happened in Fulda but I put it up twice- first time the whole computer looked like it had reset so I didn't think anything of it. Second time, only a few hours later, I noticed a CTD.

Server hasn't CTDd in awhile. Anyway, Fulda may be on the caution list for awhile. I've sent in the error report to ED side to see if they can put their finger on why it happened.

Anyway- a slightly edited "Back to school" is up... with input from Mol about the state of the su-25s as well as some routing adjustments.

XRay, I read a post on DCS Forums about tankers, but it was more about recommended speeds - like ~250 (?) for A-10s and ~325 for F-15s. Haven't heard anything about a tanker at ~163.

Pirates Of The Crimean has a tanker at 15,000, and I think its speed is set to ~220. It is a nighttime mission so that will add a wrinkle.

---

Eno, I also saw something on DCS about rearming that makes me wonder if Fulda Gap's TGP restriction will be in place. Also curious how Neutral airbases will react to a capturing force, and what that will affect re rearming and repair.

Aviancer- Great video. More please.

WC- Mol and I were flying your new Pirates Of The Crimean last night and had a blast. We found that using the TGP was a
destraction and that NVG was the best meathod for target ID. Those speedboats are fast little buggers, but no match for my Hog ar15 +10 in my book.

Standard KC-136 speed for AAR is 275 KIAS or 0.78M, higher of the two. However for the A-10 it's 220 KIAS or its holding speed, again higher of the two. The problem is that all AI speeds are ground speeds which means that the value entered into the editor must be corrected for altitude.

Throwing 165 KIAS into a CAS-TAS calculator and giving 18,000'... we get 219 KTAS. Looks like someone put 220 into the field and didn't realize that 220 GS/TAS is going to be much lower IAS.

Good info!

Remind me again after you try to tank in Pirates and the tanker is going 135 knots at 15,000'.

I'll need a hint after today.

Wheel - Pirates is one of my OLD favorites. Glad to be able to host it again - seems ships are working now on v123. Yahoo. Check out all the pages in the Briefing :-) (courtesy of 104th_Moa).

Had some time to tweak it further again today. Enjoy!

If a Group is Deactivated then it is gone forever. Deactivation will, I think, also cause the logic to see the Group as Dead so if you have Group Is Dead triggers on that Group then they will be activated, too, and you prolly won't want that; this is why I define Alive, Dead and Deactivated states in my flag scheme.

Forgot to thank you for that... Your solution was exactly what I needed- an out of the box perspective... I was really thinking myself into a corner on it and once I read it I was embarassed how simple it was!

Instead of activating and deactivating perhaps I'll just use AI on and off. Well, unless I don't want things to be visible.

Having a lot of fun with it... now that I understand the flags a bit more (not your system yet but I only need a few flags thus far)... it just keeps getting more and more fun. Still hoping for some volunteers tomorrow or Wednesday to get some initial flying in on it to give me some early feedback- We'll lock the doors for the time being and let you guys get a feel for it.

Thanks Blooze! I'll post any passwords in here. Anyone coming in will know it's a "beta."

Eno Great update to Back to School... I was only in for about an hour but the vickers on the SU 25 were super. I love the gun pods as well. Just so you know we had a few A-10s in opposition but we took Beslan... crew

Below is a screen shot of me after a landing at Beslan... Note the T-55s in the background... ready

Okay guys... so remember: This is my first mission put out. I'm going to add a little description in here later but the briefing does cover it pretty well.

The password from the beta test will simply be: fire safety

I'll have it posted around 1730 MST
