I'm sure this question has been asked a million times before, but I guess the stutter problem is something that can't generally be fixed. I tried a bunch of the techniques listed on this forum; changin 10.0 to 10.1, deleting the movie, nothing.

Did I just spend $20 on something that will never function correctly?

Thanks

Reducing or turning some settings off tends to reduce stutter. The game is very demanding and not particularly well optimized so you really need absolutely top of the line hardware to run it with all the bells and whistles, and even then it's a crap-shoot. What settings do you have on and on what hardware are you running it? Turning off grass helped my stutters immensely in previous patches over land.

Hi deez,
My best advice if you can do it is invest in a 2mb video card. Today I went and got a PNY GeForce GTX650 with 2mb and it has made a world of differance for CLoD and price wise it wasn't too bad (less then $150.00). I was using a ATI HD5770 1mb card and I was just not impressed with CLoD. Most of my GFX settings had to be at low and a very few at medium, grass off, roads off, trees off, shadows off, all the suggested tweeks active etc and even then I suffered from frequent micro stutters, even over less populated areas of thw map. But with this new card I now have my GFX settings at medium to high, grass/trees/roads/shadows are all on. Even flying over London I only get a very few micro stutters and they are very infrequent and in all honesty it looks like a totally different sim. I have yet to try any of the combat missions with this new card and being I just got it today I'm still tweeking but if finally looks promising, especially with HeinKill and crew reworking the SP campaigns. thumbsup
cheers

hi deez,

if you'r still getting stutters/freezes since the last official patch (about 2 or 3 months ago), then you are either using a below par computer, or havnt installed the patch correctly (if you havnt messed around with beta patches, the auto steam install process most likely worked ok). note: if you have a mid level pc, obviously dont expect to set all the effects and detail on max

the stutter/freeze issue is an old isue with the game that has been largely resolved. for ex on my mid level pc with a dual core cpu @ 3.5 ghz, a 1gb ati 5770 and 8 gb ram, i run most gfx settings on medium (building density, tree's), a few on high (terrain detail), and none on low iirc. i have perfectly smooth gameplay and only notice a fpsec issue when over london (the most demanding location on the map). under most gaming situations i get about 45 fpsec i think, and before that last official patch for me it was barely playable around 15- 25 fpsec. check specs on the game box for what ballpark to look for

flightsims like this are some of the most demanding games for cpu/gpu's on pc's, so dont expect it to be like a console game (you'll need to tweak a few settings, so read a few posts on the main forums to see what main settings to reduce). you havnt stated your system specs so cant be more specific.

Be advised, we got zips in the wire
