Okay- as per Skate's post I have edited in an entry indicating the port range from 10300-10350...
Also, I have game_timeout = 0... so you guys shouldn't timeout while loading.

Fantastic job Eno ... I logged on to the server with no probs at all ... was there for about 30 min no crashes except my shark ... (trying to fight at night not good )
cheers
Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.

im gonna be estatic if that one line to add the range behind the 1st port actually worked, as I just made that up as a concept.
check the logs and see what port he's using...

He was still using different ports- unfortunately... so I don't think that contributed to the success.

luck of the draw, or the time out to 0 line fixed it for him.

Interesting- when I went back in the network.cfg file to look into something after a recent disconnect and the result from that last addition I made was that internet port= -50. Not sure how... but that didn't quite work.
I have since gone back in and brought the router and the game network file back to the stock UDP setting.
Next step is to DMZ the comp- which I will do tomorrow if this doesn't work.

How in Lord Vader's name does a Client's UDP port switch around on connection attempts?

It's not quite like that I don't think- more like they're connected, doing their thing... Then the port switches from one random port to another... Then the disco.
I mean- in theory shouldn't the port be 10308? All the port numbers I'm seeing on clients are random.

Dear God, I have learned how to hover and engage targets from a distance in the KA-50. If I can just keep from running into things I may actually become dangerous in this thing... as long as Mole stops strafing me with his A10!

Hi all! Sorry I've been away. Life and friends have kept me busy. Any exciting developments while I was away? I managed to fly around for a bit (maybe an hour?) without a single disconnect. My game did kinda freeze up once, but it wasn't a network issue at least!
Beans, good to see someone else finally has the shark! Its was a little lonely cruising around alone.
If you're running into things, you're probably going too fast. I used to blast around at max speed and crash frequently until I realized you're supposed to think of the KA-50 as a sniper. Go slow, take your time, observe carefully, and engage targets on your own terms.

Well, I'll tell you what I had a great time flying tonight. Back To School and Molasses got a lesson. :-) He gives plenty - I know! Good back and forth, but I think BLF is going to take this one.

I'm laughing at the above screen shot. It was right after the message that General Vaz was en route to Beslan.
No way after that the RDR was going to let Blue BLF run through our neighborhood.

Which chopper is general Vaz in? I saw 3 parked on the tarmac at the airfield. I set the two trailing helicopters on fire, but the lead helicopter seems almost invincible. I put maybe 200 rounds of HE ammo into it, which set it on fire, but the fire promptly went out. I then fired a few barrages of rockets at it, but that only knocked off both front wings and the wing on the left side of the tail boom. Then the airborne hind shot me down.
Edit: Eno, have you tried running wireshark on another computer on the network to see whats REALLY happening? It will show ALL network packets.

Dont know what you have done ... but it seems to work, was on the server for approx 1 hr ...no disconnects no problems .. but I was there on my own .. dont know how it would hold up with more players
cheers
