I am really disgusted with the talent-less, vulgar pop fartists all over the place these days. They don't sing, but let synthesizers, auto-tune etc, etc deal with the music, that they don't write themselves, of course.
- So Adele is really a breath of fresh air: writes her own songs, dosn't undress to sell herself, and possesses a magnificent voice. And seems like a cool, fun-loving level-headed person. An actual person and not a plastic figure, wauw, that really makes her stand out!
Her last 2 albums have sold extremely well so she has proven that you don't have to be a wafer thin woman to be successful in the music industry and that real talent really does trump everything else.

I had a discussion with one my squadmates who thought it was BS that someone like her won so many grammy awards. I had to explain how at least she's talented in many more ways than many of today's artists and has put out two very genuinely good albums. The real sad part of the grammy's was the fact they eliminated a ton of categories for genres that although popular don't classify as "Pop" (ie: doesn't sell well).
Good interview Frey, Cheers. Love Adele, and its definitely a victory for real talent. As Piper points out, shes actually been going for quite a while, its only now shes being recognised and going Supernova. I hope she never changes, which sadly sometimes happens but she seems to be staying well grounded and long may it continue. Her interviews are usually a hoot, she has a very funny personality....Typical working class potty mouthed Brit (I swear like a docker too hehe, its not a big deal here really though, they are only words ) and I like that she doesn't take herself too seriously. Personality goes a long way.
I liked the 'I'm not going to be some skinny minny with my t*ts out' jibe, most pop music vids these days are basically soft porn....with the 'artists' who nine times out of ten cannot write or sing a song to save their lives without computer assistance; and 'slutting it up', because sadly it works. I'm a red blooded male and have to admit when I see Rihanna wiggling her booty about I think 'Phwoaar!!' because like most blokes I'm basically a caveman.
However, it gets a bit old and part of me realises ('Down, Shep!!!'....LMAO) that I am being cynically manipulated, and I regret being such a base neanderthal. None of this however can change the fundamental truth that the 'music' is crap. Rihanna has no real talent to speak of, apart from being preternaturally beautiful, which is of course not really a talent.....just a happy fluke. She can dance a bit I suppose. Wow.
This is a good interview in 2 parts on the Graham Norton show . You'll just have to endure Miranda Hart I'm afraid lol . Adeles 'evil cackle' laugh cracks me up, funny lass.

Hehehe, aye anything can start to grind when its overplayed Chucky, I would agree on that most definitely. Point is though that at least she actually can sing and write, unlike many others which I'm sure you'd agree on. I've seen her live well before she went stratospheric in small venues, and Christ, can she sing....no doubt about it.

The same problem exists with radio stations in the US. Not a day goes by that I don't hear an Adele song on the radio. It's just ludicrous how radio stations will play the same 10-15 song set over and over and over.

She once said to a journalist who started blabbering about her weight and shape that "I write music for ears, not for eyes." I always thought that was a pretty good quote She can SING, she doesn't mime, and that puts her above all the rest of todays pop "artists" IMO.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!
she'd have to not talk though as she has that Essex accent lol.
I guess it sounds more exotic to me since I'm an American but I find her accent to be rather sexy.

She has a great voice and I enjoy her music...but with the blond teased hair and black on black outfits she's starting to become more and more the 'essex girl' stereotype
On a "somewhat" related topic....the diametric opposite in image to Adele IMO is Lady Gaga. She gives me the creeps when I see her and the music I hear from her on the radio is awful.....but then a buddy of mine sent me a clip of her singing Edge of Glory live with just her and piano.....I was amazed. Good voice and good song...it's too bad that unlike Adele , Gaga covers up her music with all the crap.
I definitely do recognize the talent in Lady Gaga. For me it's simply the case that her style of music is not my taste.

When Whitney died, some were suggesting Adele as the heir apparent. IDK about that. I think her vocal styling is more reminicent of Annie Lennox than Whitney.
