Howdy

A quick question. What sims can we currently or potentially get data from regarding flight data and /or switch positions. I know of:

Definite

F4
LockOn
FS2004
X-Plane

Possible

BoB

What about MigAlley, IL2 / FB / PF ?

Oleg is more than a little...obsessive when it comes to cockpit accuracy in FB/AEP/PF. Flight model accuracy not so much, patches often change this plane or that.
Third-party modders for CFS3 have done some great work, as have the SFP1 (and now WoV) modders--again regarding cockpits.
Don't know of too many others.

The Il-2 series as of the Aces Expansion Pack supports a limited read-write interface for the player's aircraft attitude, controls and attributes.

Hi James!

Regarding BoB and MA:

We got the permission from Erwin 'EagleEye' Neyt to use the same way to talk to the outside world as his F4 interface. Thanks!

The bad news about using an interface in the very short term is that "we" (hardcore BoB coders) currently are quite busy, as you can imagine after reading this
http://news.pcaviator.com/usa.htm

However, we welcome anyone wanting to use them and give all the help we are currently capable of. We have a test implementation going in BoB that only accesses one variable, but it should be easy to expand to more. Also, I expect it ports pretty straight forward to MA, but we have not tried it yet.

Wibble: Thanks for the heads up on that ;\)

Osram: That's excellent news buddy! I look forward to seeing where that goes. I asked the same question on ViperPit forums which confirmed what I'd got vague memories of.

One of the reasons for my asking was in relation to RealSimulator hardware that I own for my pit. I wanted to be sure that I could pass on to their developers what sims they could theoretically support, in the hope that in future the hardware will automatically support these sims.

Cheers

James
