Basically everyone has I know has shelved CoD for the time being.
When we fly online we do so with DCS:A-10C and Rise of Flight.

I don't think everyone moved to DCS A-10C or Rise of Flight. In case of Rise of Flight there is currently a big thread about the lack of numbers online right now: http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=22317Its interesting to note that the point of the lack of a global chat server in-game was brought up as a significant reason for the lack of games that get going online. This is part of the reason Hyperlobby with IL-2 was popular in that people could get games going quickly by advertising them over chat for everyone to see. Cliffs of Dover devs should take note!

No, not everyone has moved on to A-10 or RoF. From my experience the guys mainly interested in WW2 online flying simply stayed with IL2:1946.

In case of Rise of Flight there is currently a big thread about the lack of numbers online right now: http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=22317 I am beginning to fear that this generation of young gamers - as opposed to those just ten years ago - are just not into anything resembling engine management. Maybe management of piston engines look as arcane to them as running a steam engine would look to me? I mean, the RoF online flight experience is just as perfect and polished as Il-2 Classic was back in its day. Getting into all sorts of online fighting is as easy as hyperlobby ever was. I am really surprised that RoF - even after the level of perfection it has reached - still doesn't garner big numbers online. It would really be interesting to know the average age of those online. Because if it is above 30 then that explains. None of us 30+'ers have all the time to burn online that we used to. Maybe we need more arcade servers to pull young ones in, and then those of them who want can progress to full-real settings... I also think that the company behind, now 777 Studios, should maybe run a few servers themselves, instead of just relying on the fan base. Would be good to know that there are always a few rock-steady servers with a recognisable experience.

So why are there only 40 people max playing online? where is everyone? This is easily explained: The game is 70% completed and requires a 1.5GB video card or 460+SLI to fly over land. It will take some time for PC gamers with light funds to join up with the enthusiasts. I don't see that happening for some time. Check out the hardware that steam users have: Steam Hardware & Software Survey: June 2011 http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey Check out VRAM specifically: 1536 MB+ is only approx. 1.48% of users At least in our group, we have about 10 players that would love to play, but cant justify the hardware upgrade for a game that is quite less than spectacular in it's current form. Sales will be slow for this title until probably after the next expansion pack, but will continue for years and years. I would imagine they know that...release it unfinished and get some much needed cash flow and have the community help fix the bugs while the hardware to run the beast comes around. Could they optimize this beast and improve sales quicker..sure. For now, Im enjoying the hell out my 41fps flights over the coastline with my 2600k and 460s SLI. Cheers to the future.

It will take some time for PC gamers with light funds to join up with the enthusiasts. I don't see that happening for some time. So they lied when they said the recommended was 1 Gb video card. If it is using 1.5+ which I have seen it use, thats just not right. No other sim uses anything close to that. Its not like this is the best sim ever, either. And thats with SLI support broken and AA limited to 4X. They will have to optimize this or its an epic fail! It's possible someone on the internet called katdog knows that the game was written for a 1.5G video card and that it's exactly 70% complete, but then again they might just be guessing or expressing a pure opinion. If you have a video card with a lot of memory then most games will tend to use as much as they can, i.e. why deallocate GPU VRAM when you don't need to etc. The real question is if CloD is unflyable with less than 1.5GB over land, and for that I'd have to disagree with such a blanket statement. I've seen people fly fine over land with 1GB cards, and it depends on what you're trying to render. PS Using statements like 'they lied' is subjective and can be taken as a personal attack on the developers. I don't think you meant it like that in this case, but wanted others to understand how the rules are interpreted here.

Glaring Omission in CloD: WTH is St. Paul's Cathedral. Kind of an important landmark in WW2, don't ya agree? Its definitely a building that should be in the Battle of Britain, the good news is the developers are still working on the unfinished sim and if it doesn't get done by the developers someone in the Mod community will build it.

Do some research before making unfounded statements, ROF uses more than 1.5gb if you have it available and CoD can be played with a 500kb card, my 8800gt was fine to play with, just turn a few settings down.

I picked up CLoD on release here, knowing full well what I was getting but with the hope the sim will get the love and attention from it's devs similar to how Jason and 777 has managed RoF. I've spent a only a few hours with CLoD for multiple reasons- some to do with the poorish quality of the game at release as I see it (!!spinning parked Me109's on a grass field for example) and the wait for fixes, but more-or-less I've been hooked by the RW2 train sim...What I have flown of CLoD otherwise has been ok and there is some pretty neat things in there-- hence the hope. For me the 'whats next?' is waiting for the fixes, putting more time in as I find time, and if it's getting better then spread the word amongst m8s and hope for the best.
Currently simming; GHPC, Tank Squad, Panzer Elite, and one train sim: Run 8. Trying to escape Tarkov, and roaming around in Incursion' Red River.

MG modelers are working on the next game (BOM??), so will have to be done by the modders.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

So a hardcore flight sim isn't a top seller on Steam! Now tell me something I don't know.
This isn't any different from other hardcore flight sims that have been sold on Steam or other places.

Whatever carry on, obviously you missed the great 'fanboy' vs 'hater' war
You call me a fanboy I'll call you an ass, and I'm sure I could pull up a definition to justify that

ah, one of the elusive train simmers out of the woodwork! Aye, tis true! Lol. Love your CLoD videos, m8-- very inspiring and are what helped keep my pre-order intact (i.e., not cancelled). I'm looking forward to the future fixes and whatnot and as I mentioned before with a little bit o' dev love, along the lines of RoF, CLoD should be great. Steam sales figures/sales position of a sim means little tbh...and I'd never expect sales numbers comparable to non-sims, like BLoPs/CoD incarnations, from any sim.

You call me a fanboy I'll call you an ass, and I'm sure I could pull up a definition to justify that I actually did not call you a fanboy, and I certainly did not personally attack you by calling you a demeaning name like you did to me. I'm sorry that criticism of this game seems to be so painful for some, but it is an unfinished buggy software that needs to be optimized and finished. Not sure why this is personally painful to admit by some, but anyway.... No, no; my point is for some the term 'fanboy' is an insult, just because you can justify using it does not mean it will sit well for others. My ass comment was an example. I have no idea what you're talking about when you say people take criticism of the game personally. We've all #%&*$# and complained Unfinished software, really lol : see below
