Hi all, could do with a hand and some verification as to the correct way to save my control inputs please.....I'm going to uninstall and do a 'year zero' reinstall on the next patch.

Tried to muddle my way through and have saved the 'conf', 'confs' and 'confUser' files from the 1csoftclub folder in 'documents'. It seems that the 'confUser' file is the important one RE: HOTAS and keybindings etc? Do correct me if I am wrong. I believe there are also 'duplicates' of these files in the steam-steamapps-common-il2cliffs folder too, should I backup these as well? Would think so, but unsure.

So, after reinstallation....would it then just be a case of replacing the aforementioned files with the ones I have backed up? I have disabled Steam Cloud, which should probably result in all key bindings-Hotas assignments being reset; I don't think I could face having to do it all again lol and want to get it right.

Another reason for doing this is to remove another possible reason for crap performance from the equation.....AFAIK, I have done everything by the book as Ilya directed (clearing cache, shaders blah blah), and yet still get crap micro stutters (FPS is generally high). I really don't think its anything I've done wrong, and the fault is actually at their end, but have to be sure.

What about the in-game Save As feature? It's at the bottom of the control input selection screen and allows you to browse to anywhere in Windows to save your settings with a name of your choosing and then later to load them again. Unless I'm totally not unserstanding what you mean.

Thanks for reply letterboy, I have already tried that and I am unable to as since the last patch many option screen features were porked on my install. I would usually just 'save' the control settings by clicking on 'apply', as I only use one profile for all aircraft. Clicking on 'Save as' does nothing at all, while it 'lights up' to show it has been selected, that's all. No option to then name the profile and store it wherever etc, so I have to do it by another means.

Just wondering if I can do it the way I have outlined above. Other porked things include not being able to set fuel loadouts and being unable to save gun loadouts in quick missions which I was previously able to do. Fine in FMB though. Convergence works (in as far as it 'works' lol due to the reflector sights being wrongly configured for distance....but that's old news.) I can't record tracks anymore either, and fraps will not work despite trying all the fixes. Could try an earlier version of fraps if I can find one, that might be worth a shot.

EDIT: I know about the 'fps START SHOW' command, just prefer fraps overall.

I had an issue trying to save my controller settings, button would highlight but not save, I have a feeling the fix was related to win 7's desktop aero settings. I cant remember whether you had to turn aero on or off, but this fixed my problem.

Cheers Tiger mate, thought of that (aero-properties etc malarky etc) meself and tried it both ways.....Still no Joy.

I suppose I just have to accept the fact that CoD in its current incarnation Hates me (lol)....but I'm not that arsed. I've been called worse, and life does indeed go on.

Biggles, I may be wrong but I remember vaguely that there was something related to the "disable desktop composition" feature of the app. Could you check how yours are set for the launcher ?

Have you checked deleting the 1csoftclub folder ?

Once I created a profile for my stick I saved it as "X-52" and then I copied the ConfUser file to a folder outside of the 1CSoftClub folder in My Documents and named it "saved profile" it maybe unnecessary but at least if something happens to it I have a back-up and so far I haven't lost it through any update but my campaign keeps getting reset which is keeping me from actually playing that part for now.

I think I'll just do an uninstall, wipe it all off and start again. Clean slate. Rome wasn't built in a day anyway. It takes time.
