Oleg Maddox can state what he likes, he has about as much credibility with me as a hooker in a habit.

A bit harsh? This is the same guy that brought us the Il-2 series...and look how that turned out. I think it's unfair to level your perception of someone solely on one example, without taken into account what they have achieved for the community in the 10 years before that. In any case, we should at least thank the team for giving us a sim! Because are there really any other tangible options? It's a rhetorical question; the answer is no. State or no state, I thank the team for continuing to support the game. Where Oleg is, no one knows, but I think it's unfair to speculate and start being nasty. I think Ubi are more to blame for the mess CloD was/is, than the team are.

I fire over 1000 rounds a week (tracers, slap rounds, and ball ammo) I get to play with the M2, M4, M9, Mk19, Mk44, 240B, and 249. I can tell you the tracers in IL2COD look pretty damn good to what your eyes see. It's a huge difference between a vibrating camera or even a photograph. Any sort of validation through film is beyond words straight up wrong. Anyone arguing about the tracers hasn't really fired a weapon. And to the poster that said something about ballistic wobble of a round, you will NEVER see that with the human eye (tracer round or otherwise). Laser beams and star wars come to mind. The problem is, you will not get the vantage point of what you see in game because those firing weapons have your eyeball fixated directly behind the barrel of a gun. Stand 10 meters right or left and have someone else fire it. It starts turning into a laser light show. This is a still shot of multiple tracer fire: (obviously not credible to what it really looks like, simply because the streaks of light are too long. That's the only thing different than what your eye will see, unless again, behind the barrel of a weapon)

I've seen that pic a few times now; can anyone tell me what is going on?
It looks like they are firing at an elevated target but it might just be a trick of perspective.....anyone know?

A bit harsh? This is the same guy that brought us the Il-2 series...and look how that turned out. Irrelevant, the man is entitled to be judged on his last act, unless it is so minor as to be unworthy of consideration. Is CoD, the promises made for it, the marketing and then what we got unworthy of consideration? I think not. He knew exactly what was going to be served up, and exactly what claims that serving was being based upon. The man has zero credibility from hereonin as far as I'm concerned. Zip. Nada.

You very easily condemn a man, just because you have to wait for your favorite toy a few weeks longer. That says it all!

robtek How am I "condemning" him? To what exactly?! It's a purely personal judgement that he has no more credibility with ME. Doesn't affect him in the slightest. I don't take to being lied to, to being cheated, and to being taken for a mug.

And to sell something, have you ever watched tv-commercials, it is quite usual to have a "laissez faire" attitude to the reality. As i said, you have to wait a few weeks longer, big deal, the structure is there and the flaws will be corrected, try to be positive, the glass is half full. robtek

Almost every post here ends in an argument with the usual suspects lined up with their own agenda. You guys should take your act on the road,,,please.

Please tell me where you were lied to?
Every single feature stated in the game is there. A lot of it isn't working right. But it's there and will be fixed.
Virtually every single Friday update throughout the life cycle of development shown to the public not only was a representation of a WIP, but the author of the post, either Oleg or Luthier, even stated WIP in the post. Just a hint for future reference, 3 weeks before the Russian release, the Friday updates were still saying WIP.
I might go out on a limb and maybe even put 2 + 2 together and think, "maybe, just maybe, they are still working on it!" And even better, they even TOLD everyone they were! By golly, looks like they are still working on it today. No way! Even after they told me time and time again WIP? That it's actually not finished? Gee, who would have guessed? Oh that's right! I actually followed along with it and knew it from the get go.
All the features that didn't ship with the sim were well warned about (by those same 2 people) before it's release as well. They even TOLD the public about those as well? NO FRICKEN WAY! LIARS I TELL YOU.. LIARS!!!!!!!!
This all must have been one huge publicity stunt! Look at all those advertisements EVERYWHERE. Look at UBI. Look at all the ads. Just look around. --- Oh wait, can't seem to find them.
FRICKEN LIARS!!!!

I'm telling you that tracers, and I HAVE FIRED PLENTY OF THEM, do not look like 20 yard long beams of light. Correct. They don't and I have fired thousands of 7.62 and 5.56 tracers.

Oleg Maddox can state what he likes, he has about as much credibility with me as a hooker in a habit. What has that got to do with his credibility anyway? He wanted to portray naked eye perception of tracers not their film footage. What exactly does credibility has to do with that particular act/decision of his?

+1 to the above. If I remember, Il-2 classic had certain issues on release. We were told that certain features would be in the game. Technically, Oleg never said when...so chew on that.

Is that a serious question? One example, the official videos. Did they or did they not portray a smooth-running game? What did we get? A slide-show. Oh...the vids were over water, the game was a slide-show over land. So, was there any advance notice, as there was with pulled features, that the game should not be played over land? That it should only be played over water? That it would not function over land? No, there was not. Do you think they didn't know how it was running over land? Do you think the lack of vids showing it running over land was a coincidence? So I'll ask you again...was that a serious question? Was it Bliss? Or can I have some of what you're smoking? Oleg's and Luthier's credibility...ZERO. Now you gone and gotten me all het up again.

Didn't OM say he was no longer involved in CloD? If you want to rag on someone then it is Ilya of the Pacific Fighters debacle.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Oleg's and Luthier's credibility...ZERO. Now you gone and gotten me all het up again. I'm going to go with Mr W on this one, in that in the run up to the game's Euro release the devs did a disservice to all that goodwill they built up over IL2. Now of course, they were asked to promote the game by the publisher (remember the series of Ubisoft developer diary's, a series of 1 of 1?) but it would have been a wiser course of action for them to have just kept quiet, or rather, if the wheels were turning and out of their hands then perhaps dampening expectations 'a little' would have been the way to go. PC Flight Sims are a small niche, with long sale relationships stuff, so even if it would have scared a few casual purchasers away it would have been worth going for some harder-line honesty of how it was going. Even a product forum of 'I hope you guys like this, we've still got lots to do!' would have helped (especially as Ubisoft suits would never see that). What tends to happen if a game dev cycle is rough is that nothing is said, i.e. don't promote it too hard, but still get it out the door - 1C took a chance and got caught by promoting hard AND still struggling. It does burn through their credibility for me personally. The next step is what you do next about it - if they don't bail and keep working then I'm not that bothered. Life's too short to get indignant, and 'untrue advertising' isn't on my top ten list of crimes against humanity.

I think they're too thick and too solid in COD, but otherwise not bad.

"Nice job of getting down to the basics - love your choice of a cover!" Col. Clarence 'Bud' Anderson
"I have enjoyed reading angels and airspeed, it should prove good reading for all interested in combat tactics and their application related to the fluid air environment and state of technology in WWII years. All the best as you make it available." - Col. Charles McGee - Tuskegee Airman
