It' is a sorry situation that a very outspoken minority bashes this sim,
reducing in this way the image and possible sales.
Those guys damage this sim for everybody, like kicking someone who is already on the ground.
Their horizon must be so limited, that they don't realize that they also damage their possible fun in the near future,
implementing that they would have fun playing a wwii flight sim.
Btw, i have already tons of fun with this unfinished sim, as most buyers do.

In general, the gaming media has slaughtered the sim. (Gamespot, Checksix, PC Gamer, Euogamer etc)
This will do sales far more damage than a few naysayers on a handful of forums.

In my opinion, the US reviews will make or break this sim, not the opinions of a handful of users on here.
Bad press from the States will see Clod in the bargain bin by August.

I don't need to head North and run away to stop playing a game. But then, of course, I have an ounce of common sense. I even have the common sense to read the forum and gather enough perspective to ascertain that upgrading my PC to play CloD would not be a brilliant decision today, but over the next few months would be a better option. So here I am suggesting as well that people who have read the forum, realised the game was in a pretty poor state, and still went out to buy the game really shouldn't complain that they were hard done by. The facts were there for them to see, and they chose to take the risk.
But then again, many are enjoying the game, and there are some fantastic videos that show the sims potential. If it had no potential, no one would still be playing it.
Of course it will take time, but 'cutting your losses' suggests that you should quit whilst you're ahead, when in actual fact it's a case of either quitting whilst you're behind, to be in a position to get ahead once major patches are introuced, or to continue enjoying some of the fantastic details of the sim and to watch it expand.
But either way, we should be happy that there is even a game in this genre being developed. We haven't lost out. We've gained something.

I hope they look at the damage/collision model soon

I enjoy flying with CloD, after all. A whole new brave simulated world is behind the corner. Great project, great vision. It needs better management, IMO.

my take...

IL2-COD (download version from the UK) is not in a state where its playable on my system, and Im not going to invest 1K-3K dollars on hardware upgrades just for it, especially in its current state. So until this sim gets optimized; Im going to continue to enjoy IL2 v4.10m with my squadies with its nearly perfected state. I was going to buy the US commanders version, but Im going to hold off on that too. ROF-ICE's new dynamic campaign is probably going to draw my precious weekend warrior flight time too.

Its because of the equity I have in the previous IL2-series that I bought COD in good faith. I remember back when Falcon4 and Flanker and even early IL2 were in POS state too. Im going to give COD some more time to cook in the oven before I consider upgrading also. So for now, IL2-COD is being parked in the sim hanger.

In the meantime, have you tried the FMB - lots of good stuff to play with in there? Makes COD worth the $50 alone.

For every reasonable 'Hmm, this isn't ready yet' contribution there are about ten more with 'Oleg killed my dog, and hurt me, and it is bad, and it is bad DONT BUY ITT? YOU SUCKK! IT STOLE MY MONY $$$ O_o' style comments.

On balance most reasonable people browsing here will probably come away with the impression of (a) those screenshots look good but I'll check it out later if I have a good rig and (b) these grown men seem to act like idiots on the internet don't they?



The worse thing for a new release is for no-one to be talking about it, and COD on that basis is doing great so far.

Absolutely.,.... when no one cares enough to write about the sim, then those at 1C and the user base can start worrying.
In the meantime, I'm quite enjoying all of the difference of opinions in the haters/game booster "wars".
