This forum is a flashback to 2002/2003 in the Strike Fighters forum. There were a few very vocal haters that would spew vitriol nonstop leading to personal attacks back and forth between them (and their constant self-righteous "if I don't say it, who will?" attitudes) and those who just wanted to get on with enjoying the game as it was, rabid supporters or not. There were no rose-colored glasses, you couldn't play it and not see where its flaws were, but people were having a good time nonetheless. Everyone made note of the problems, possible workarounds, and so on. Some simply decided to wait for patches to fix things. Yet that wouldn't stop the haters, nor did any mods. The fact that, just like CoD, none of the people actually WORKING on the game were around to see these complaints meant nothing to them.
In the end, the community by and large left SimHQ and let the haters rant into the void. They attempted to follow them to the other forums, but those places cut them off. They finally tired of ranting to no audience and peace returned to the forums here, but the damage was done. It was sort of like the peace that reigned in Berlin in July 1945. Unlike Berlin, however, what happened there was 100% not necessary.
I can foresee a similar thing happening here eventually if something doesn't change.

Yes, because if someone puts a gun to your child's head and says "if you don't give me your money they will die, and you will have killed them", it's not the one who pulls the trigger that committs murder, it's the one who refuses to satisfy the gunman's requirements.
Ever look at the Whirlwind of Vietnam forum? Not a lot of problematic threads there. A lot of disappointment, a lot of disgust, not a lot of hate.

Really crap sims, as Whirlwind over vietnam, die in silence. The fact that a lot of people post praise of CoD - despite its numerous bugs - shows that it has huge merit. And that is exactly why you haters are so desperate that you feel a need to spam the forums constantly, having bought the sim or not. You simply cannot bear that some people enjoy it and want to stick with it in the hope that their support will lead to patches and game improvements. It must be stopped, it must, it must!
Isn't it time that you move on to worthier pursuits? How great for you is it every day to come to the forum of a sim that only elicits your disgust? You are so consumed with anger and barfy reflux is constantly swimming around in your mouth. Just let it go and be happy elsewhere, huh?
Ah, no, I forgot: you are on a mission to destroy the sim and that holy quest fulfils your search for meaning in life...

It's not in the UK. If it is where you live then that just suggests you should use more caution when making your purchasing decisions. So in the UK, Steam would have returned the money for CoD as released on Day 1? You might have had to remind them of certain UK consumer laws but yes, there are a fair few reports of people getting refunds from steam. Here in Canada you can get refunds for Steam purchases. I just got a refund for 'Brink' yesterday by the legal masterstroke of emailing their support and making the cunning argument of 'It doesn't work, I want my money back'. Of course, playing COD in pain and angst for a mere 150 hours and then trying this might not work. Colonel, perhaps blame the Austrian people for this, and their poodle-like compliance with being walked over by big companies - you get what you deserve, yes? ho ho

Man, this thread is confusing. Does anyone have any idea of the score? When I left it last night it was about even.
Have we got to the point where people ask others to 'just leave!' or have I still got time for some tea? I like that bit best, as we then move on to some more of the esoteric straw-men stuff. By about midday here we should be on schedule for macro-economics and their impact on the common man, but by the looks of it we seem ahead.

Ya Voss, he is a strong believer in the means is justified by the end. In other words you can act like an ass because you are serving a higher purpose. Collateral damage, who cares. This is just an example, I'm not suggesting Voss is acting like an ass, though he has at times compared his ass to this game.

I assume he has really honest motives and I like him standing in the storm and being the crusader who mercilessly ragges the developers on a daily base until they really regret it and abjure selling unfinished, crippled stuff in the future. Besides, it has a slightly comic aspect. But it shows dedication. And stamina. But a lot of nasty things happen in these threads - not his fault, of course. I hate myself for subscribing to these threads, for waking up in the morning to find 25+ new posts in my Inbox and hurrying up be able to read them. What I don't get is why the same posts are being regurgiated again, and again, and again, and again... Or is it just a case of:

SimHQ is heading downhill fast because of you guys. I hold the moderators responsible, but evidently they have a hard time, because they actually have a life to live in the real world, unlike the psychos, most of whom don't own the sim and would never buy it. I understand this leads to hands-off moderating, but that only contributes to these forums being as crap as they are.
LOL. I honestly asked him a true question (if he expects people to "walk away" from a nonfunctional 50 dollar title), not a rethorical argument, and what I get back is flaming and more insults. This guy is unbelievable. And Dano, as for doing research on the product: How many guys here were posting "you can buy it now and give the developer the budget to fix it, or see it die..." and how many were posting "Have faith in Oleg Maddox, he will fix it"? Just look at Tiger's post one above this one. Now suddenly these people are expected to just shrug off the money and walk on. Ghist_SWE, for me if a "grown man" is presented with a non-working product, he's entitled to rip the head off the buyer. Walking away taking a loss while the other guy is laughing all the way to the bank is for sissies, not grown men. What you are advocating here is the dream of any software developer. Freycinet has a habit of poisonous personal attacks on other forum members all for the glory of defending a dunghill that's called CoD... If I need to go...I go to the can, people like him are getting rid of it through the mouth...
