Which it maybe will, I'm not saying that's wrong, but then you can't blame people for being dissapointed if six weeks after initial release some basic things are still missing.

Doc, believe me, it makes for some honest sellers...

Thought that may have been the case, fair enough as well, you are right in that it may follow ROF and be fixed, but it is not a certainty.

Oh, I think Doc was reffering to the typo, where you guys in Austria rip the head off the buyer of a dodgy product? boom

LOL, Catch22 really. On one hand people are told if no one sponsors the development team the sim will die. On the other hand people are told they need to blame themself for buying the sim early. Can't win really, can they.

Fact of the matter is that software should not be excempt from return for cash if it's broken. That would solve a lot of issues and you'd have much less "whiners" in the forum.

We're ripping heads off pretty much everything. Buyers, Sellers, innocent bystanders, the milk man and especially bicycle drivers. Grumpy folk we are.

The irony is that he's blaming the mods for "off-hand moderating" saying they are too relaxed but he himself was

this close to getting the banhammer on the head a couple of times. With less relaxed moderation he wouldn't be here making that argument.

It was still their choice as to whether to buy it or not, still their responsibility.

It's not in the UK. If it is where you live then that just suggests you should use more caution when making your purchasing decisions.

Dano is a perfect example of why the UK is the way it is in regard to rip-off prices, cowboy traders & sellers and weak-as-piss consumer protection laws. It's a very British phenomenomanom...we "never complain", right?

Companies love us. We're regarded as mugs. "You bought my useless worthless crap mate? YOUR FAULT...you should have been more careful. Now jog on and take responsibility."

Yeah Dano...it was our fault.

Wrong! I got a refund on WoP and I complain all the time when something is not as advertised, which is why I've specifically stuck to discussing peple who knew it was in poor shape and still bought it ie; the majority of whiners here.

So in the UK, Steam would have returned the money for CoD as released on Day 1?

You might have had to remind them of certain UK consumer laws but yes, there are a fair few reports of people getting refunds from steam.

If there were a level playing field no forum member would be permitted to launch personal attacks by the thousand (literally). It is one thing to attack a product. It is quite another to verbally assault anyone who "whines" about a product. Seems the powers that be do not recognize a distinction. The product warrants protection, forum members, not so much. The result is that verbal abuse has become coin of the realm. I can accept that situation as long as we can find a way to keep the word out that CoD represents a place holder for a game rather than a functioning product. No booster will touch issues like absence of a high altitude flight model so they blow it off as a "bug". How could such a "bug" not have been recognized and corrected during development? Was the engine instead designed for another low altitude "sim" series instead and the BoB plane set just thrown in to address years of hype the team generated when it thought itself capable of producing a BoB sim?

I know many buyers who have *tried* to rip their own heads off in frustration at the game.

I believe they they have run into difficulties, however, when trying to poo down their own necks...

Tell, all good points.

The high-altitude flight-model for criticism works a damn sight better than the high altitude flight-model for the game, judging by what I see smile

I'm curious to see what happens with the NA release, and the reception. Historically it is quite a tough and unforgiving market in many respects.

I stopped reading 4 pages ago but I'd like to comment on FSAA, original IL-2 Sturmovik (2001) supported FSAA. I tried it on my GeForce 3 back in the day of course it ran pretty bad since FSAA was much more demanding for the cards back then but it worked. Original IL-2 Sturmovik (2001) had FSAA and CloD also has it but only works so-so, it say a lot about the game. Still though, I don't care so much about that but what really bugs me are the big omissions like functioning radio commands (try landing as a flight leader and see what happens to your wingmen rolleyes) and the half-hearted, super-scripted and total lack of atmosphere campaigns. The last one is just a personal preference and maybe some of you actually enjoyed the campaigns but I didn't even finish them and stopped reading the briefings a couple of missions in. The British campaign was lacklustre (being diplomatic here) and the German one...well seems they just gave up there.

It's like...they need to hire a GAME producer. Sure they have created a sim (and we want that, sim is good for us) with good potential but they don't know anything about producing a GAME. You need some game elements to make this sim complete, I'd rater have the DGen (yes DGen!!) from IL-2 than these meaningless knotted together canned missions. I have also shelved the game for the time being, playing some enjoyable games like Batman: Arkham Asylum until they release the next patch.

Like many others I'm having fun in other sims until CoD is sorted out, specifically a proper campaign that simulates the Battle of Britain or as near as dammit.

This forum is a flashback to 2002/2003 in the Strike Fighters forum. There were a few very vocal haters that would spew vitriol nonstop leading to personal attacks back and forth between them (and their constant self-righteous "if I don't say it, who will?" attitudes) and those who just wanted to get on with enjoying the game as it was, rabid supporters or not. There were no rose-colored glasses, you couldn't play it and not see where its flaws were, but people were having a good time nonetheless. Everyone made note of the problems, possible workarounds, and so on. Some simply decided to wait for patches to fix things. Yet that wouldn't stop the haters, nor did any mods. The fact that, just like CoD, none of the people actually WORKING on the game were around to see these complaints meant nothing to them.
In the end, the community by and large left SimHQ and let the haters rant into the void. They attempted to follow them to the other forums, but those places cut them off. They finally tired of ranting to no audience and peace returned to the forums here, but the damage was done. It was sort of like the peace that reigned in Berlin in July 1945. Unlike Berlin, however, what happened there was 100% not necessary.
I can foresee a similar thing happening here eventually if something doesn't change.

Definitely that is the way it is going. The haters thrive on "views per thread", but their spamming is driving people away from the forum, so it is self-defeating. Only sure loser is SimHQ, but that's the result of just letting the madness continue. Too bad, it used to be a pretty good simming web site.

I admire the simHQ admins for their patience with your constant slagging of their website which they pay and provide for you free of charge. You've called it a "faeces-smelling swamp" or something similar in the past and still you are allowed to keep posting.

Maybe it's you who needs to move on, if this forum is so bad?

Shall we move on then Tell?

You bring up a good question regarding the high altitude FM. Who cares what the boosters think or do, I certainly don't.

No, it isn't getting worse by their action, but just their inaction with the haters.

Back when you did what you could to ruin the RoF forum and the sim in general, they had the good sense to lock you up in your own little DRM forum where you could rant to yourself. They should really act the same way here in the CoD forum.

As you so eloquently put it, you haters are merely posting

- you guys don't care about any kind of discussion when you are just out to spam the forums in a quest to reach whatever strange goal you have (In your case to get RoF to drop DRM so it could more easily be pirated).
