Here's a bit of an update... Testing so far (2 of us that I know of) says that with the new firmware, the throttle LEDs now go dark when you power off / sleep the computer. There's also some different behavior in the pattern of the lights overall. If you plug the WH throttle into a powered on computer, the old firmware would light the 5 round LEDs for several seconds, then shut them off at the same time the panel backlighting comes on. The new firmware gives a very quick flash of the 5 LEDs and then it's dark until the thing is fully recognized by windows...then the backlighting comes on. Don't panic.

Bugger! mine just hangs on Throttle firmware update :-/ Stick went all OK... knew something would go wrong ! lol

Teej, you claimed that the new firmware shuts down the throttle leds (also known as the 'Xmas tree phenomenon'  ), when powering off the computer. I successfully flashed, but get no such result  P.S.: WH is pluged directly on the MB.

Yeah. Others have said that as well. Must be some sort of link to motherboard or settings.
I can only say this - when suspended to S3, with the throttle plugged into a MB USB port, my throttle goes dark.

Throttle sorted.. needed to plug into MB and not through HUB, worked first time then.... Ive noticed the throttle LED's wont go out, but my Cougar MFD's will when plugged into the same hub !

I updated the firmware on my Warthog without problems...but I can't say that I had any significant problems with it before the update, other than the green x-mas tree after power down. For what it's worth, I still have the x-mas tree..... System Specs

I updated without problems as well, same here, throttle lights are still on in standby, eventhough the cougar mdfs turn off the lights, this is attached to a powered logitech usbhub.

WOW my throttle was at version ZERO before I updated it just now....btw this is updated with a powered USB hub. Waiting on the update to finish before a final post but joystick is good to go with latest update. OK now my throttle will not recognize any update....got a error listed below. Also can't get into the website that pops up on the firmware updater.
Error: time-out device should had arrived in BULK (Code: 0x34100001)
UPDATE!!!! OK for those of you who are wondering....my Warthog throttle must have been showing a firmware of 0 because it was plugged into a powered hub...only thing I can think of at the moment... Anyway I unplugged it and plugged it into one of the motherboard USB ports and it then registered as firmware 17 and it allowed the update to happen. Oh and a cool thing now...when I look at my device in the Control Panel portion on Win7 (only OS I have this on) it now shows actual pictures of the Warthog stick and throttle instead of the gamepad things.
