So if I read you right earlier, that gives you options for C-130, C-5, C-17 and Refuelers? Yep. KC-10, C-5, C-17, KC-135, C-130, MC-12 and ...UAVs. Drop looked like this: 8 x T-38 (2 Japanese + 1 Saudi) 4 x T-44 1 x Helo 17 x T-1 As for today, we have to show up already memorized boldface for T-1. (fire on ground) THROTTLES-CUTOFF ----(fire in air) THROTTLE-IDLE THROTTLE-CUTOFF ENGINE FIRE SWITCH-PUSH BOTTLE ARMED SWITCH0PUSH -----(smoke in cockpit and / or low cabin pressure) OXYGEN MASKS-DON/100% ----- (runaway trim) TRIM INT & A/P DISENGAGE SWITCH-PUSH AND HOLD

I believe (don't quote me) that the T-1 might have the same engines as the Citations I fly. At least, the BeechJet did (or the Hawker or Raytheon or whatever they are calling it this week..)..
You'll have a swept wing though..so it will have a better ride and be a bit faster..
Best of luck with the training.. Today I'll get issued paperwork for it and I'll check it out. Ops limit says max speed is 330KIAS or .78MACH.

If you're a controller, please restrain from giving odd holding instructions Always request 20 mile legs.. Or when you hear the center issuing holding instructions ask if you can slow up enroute..sometimes they will just let you pull it back (as much as that goes against everything in my body - I'm not paid by the hour dammit - redline isn't a limitation, it's a goal..).. Are those all your memory items for the T-1 or are there more? I think we have 13 emergency procedures on the Citation. The T-1 and Citations share a lot of the same systems if my memory serves me correctly..very similar engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Looking forward to following along in your training..

There is boldface - only 5 items required to be memorized exactly. But there are many more items which I'll have to familiarize to memorize. Usually boldface is critical item which has to be cleaned up by checklist. For fire in flight, there are 4 steps required to memorize out of 18 steps. And then there are operating limitations...with 87 entrees to memorize. Such as "Max Takeoff Weight 16,100" or "Do not operate surface anti-ice systems inflight at ram air temperatures above 10C". Today, we got our pubs and fancy poster. Also we practice ground egress...fun.

We are required to memorize quite a lot of numbers...arg! And this crew concept is something very new. I'm surprised by cheapness of some simulators we have. This is a 'flight cabin' trainer. Basically bunch of photos on plywood. Or FMS sim. This uses 486 processor...lovely. Finally main sim...in process of being replaced by something newer. And that's it. First test on Wednesday.

I was a bit shocked when I heard how much that thing costs...
Btw, Beach. T-1 has Pratt and Whitney JT15D-5B (two-stage axial compressor system). Takeoff Rated Thrust at 2900 for each engine for 5 minutes max.

We've got the JT15D-5A (Citation V) and -5D (Ultra)..with 2900 and 3045 lbs. of thrust respectively. What is the max gross for that T-1?

Failed the first question already. It asked the operational limit for the T1 so I, obviously, answered, "105%". But the correct answer is apparently "5 minutes".
I thought that was the answer to "How long do you have to cook an egg?"
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Max landing 15,700. Pretty much both airplanes are very alike. T-1 is an variant of Beechjet 400 / Mitsubishi MU-300 Diamond / Hawker 400XP

Yes, they are very similar in many respects. Our Citations have a MTOW of 16,300 and a max landing weight of 15,200. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it as you progress..

First test completed. Fuels wasn't that hard. Now on to electrics, aka voodoo magic. Test on Monday.
Some of 'student harassment' ,as they call it here, is memorizing definition of all V speeds. Everyone is probably familiar with V (x) and V (y). Now I can add V(cef), V(mca), V(r), V(b), V(s1), V(mcg) and V(rot).
So if instructor asks what is V(mcg) I'll have to parrot following;
Ground minimum control speed, V(mcg) (88KIAS), is the minimum controllable speed during the take-off run, at which, when an engine is failed, it is possible to maintain directional control using only primary aerodynamic controls without deviating more than 25 feet laterally with all three wheels on the runway. The speed is established with the remaining engine at the take-off thrust setting, the aircraft loaded at the most unfavorable weight and center of gravity and the aircraft trimmed for takeoff, without exceeding 180 pounds of rudder control force by the pilot with the rudder boost system operating. Conditions of crosswind and RCT may increase V(mcg)
Fun...

My favorite speed is Vosc..
That is the speed you must taxi your aircraft to get to the Otis Spunkmeyer Cookies at the FBO before they cool off after coming out of the oven.
Usually, but not always, Vosc is = to or less than Vmcg...

Fun... hey, where would be the fun if all you had to do was goofing around in the air? congrats for your test... keep it up...

Another test complete. Next text Thursday. Tomorrow I have cockpit trainer scheduled...3 hour event as 1.5 pilot / 1.5 copilot. Things are getting kicked up a natch. Here's low level formation flight someone recorded of T-1A. Something I can look forward to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJwmxg84jAY
