Anybody here have Flight Simulator X and know how to fly the Racer Mustang? If I keep the boost and the RPM in the green, it feels like I'm always flying with about 1/3 of the available power, and if I open up the throttle all the way, the engine immediately starts making noise and then smoke.

How do you get the power out of this airplane?

LOL, if you look a few posts down Runyan, I had the exact same question. The answer is the ADI (anti-detonation) switch which allows you to run your engine up to 150lbs of boost. It does not last forever and there is a small dial in the instruments showing its depletion as it is used up. The switch is right behind the stick almost, so it is easy to miss.

Keep in mind that the racer version's engine has about twice the horsepower of the wartime P-51D. You have to use water injection when you open up the throttle beyond the green. See this thread:
