Ok, so I managed to get a copy of OFF Phase 2 from a friend, whom I had no idea even owned it. Anyway, CFS3 is installed. Now OFF Phase 2 is installed. So, now, I go to a Quick Mission just to test out the flight model and such, click Go to Hangar, and it says "Please Insert Correct Disk." I already had Disk 1 of CFS3 in the drive. Does anyone have the slightest idea what the problem may be? I REALLY would love to get flying soon. Cheers!

Make sure it's an original CFS3 , try disk 2 ?

Also if you have two CD/DVD drive may cause a problem.

Remember P2 is miles off P3 in terms of AI. FMs are also improved in P3, terrain, etc etc... as per the website feature list.

Not sure...I know that Disk 1 is the playable disk for CFS3, but I'll try Disk 2. It can't be the two-rive thing, because I only have one dvd drive. Oh, and thanks, but I'm sticking with Phase 2 for now, since it's actually free (especially since I got mine from a friend of mine. lol), and because I can't order anything online atm. But thanks for the P3 advice! Anyway, yeah, it's still not doing anything. I even uninstalled P2, re-installed it, and ran a quick mission in CFS3 before I even let P2 self-initialize...all the while, Disk 1 was sitting in the dvd drive... Still no luck...

The old MS version of CFS3 requires disc 2 in the drive for me.

For you next trick try a complete install of CFS3 and see if that runs, THEN leaving in the disk that allowed CFS3 to run try to OFF (WITHOUT uninstalling CFS3)

Ok, so if I'm reading this right, I don't uninstall CFS3, I just install it again? Then, if it runs, try OFF again, all while never taking out the disk? Sounds like it may work...

I think I may have found the problem. When trying to start CFS3 by putting the disk in, it gives me the same message, "Insert Correct CD." When I explored the disk through My Computer, and clicked on the cfs3.exe file, it gave me this message:

The procedure entry point ?setPicture@QLabel@@UAEXABVQPicture@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library qt-mt334.dll

What teh heck does this mean? I can't play the game through the .exe file because of this message. As a matter of fact, the only way I could play was through a no-cd crack I found. It wasn't until recently that I learned that I needed the disk to play OFF, and that's when this post was started. I can't believe I couldn't put 2 and 2 together earlier to come up with this. Anyway, does anyone know what this means, or more importantly, how to fix it? Thanks!

If you have the "No-CD crack" make a copy of the cfs3.exe paste it in your phase 2 root folder, make a BU of your "shell.exe", rename the cfs3.exe to shell.exe and you should be in the air in a short while!

Just so I have this straight, which is the "shell?" Is it the no-cd crack.exe file, or the original .exe file that came with the game? I don't want to swap out the wrong files thatn the ones you were talking about.

Ok, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that I understood the instructions and followed them, and now I no longer get the "Please insert correct CD" message anymore. The bad news is that now, when I click "Go to Hangar," nothing happens. I hear a voice that says, "Contact!" then, "Clear!" and an engine starting, but after that, the music just continues...

Check your windows regional settings and see what your decimal point is set to be. If it's a comma (,) then OFF won't work (something in the auto-generated missions goes amiss) and you get the problem you just described. You need to have decimals set with a . for it to work. The bad news is that if this is the case you probably need to uninstall and reinstall CFS3 and OFF one more time.

Also be aware that if you use a cracked shell.exe as a no-cd fix in OFF phase 2, sometimes enemy aircraft don't take damage. If you start shooting at someone you'll see him taking damage, but as you go nearer and you finally close to 50 meters or so, you can empty an entire magazine and the damage won't register.

Ok, good. I went to Control Panel, then Regional and Language Options, and my data is set to this:

Numbers: 123,456,789.00
Currency: $123,456,789.00
Time: 1:20:29 PM
Short Date: 7/9/2009
Long Date: Thursday, July 09, 2009

So, do I need to edit Numbers, Currency, and Long Date so the decimal point is (.), or do I need to do it for only one? Oh, and re-installing is fine. I'm not sure what I'll do if the damage doesn't register, though...

Ok, I went to Regional Options, then Customize, and my decimal point settings are already set for period (.).

Any other ideas? I'm really looking forward to getting this to work, even if it's only P2.

Uninstall,
set regional settings (
see the FAQ for P3 on overflanderdfields.com) there's a section on setting that and it's similar anyway on some machines)
reboot,
re install.

Make sure CFS3 was patched to 3.1 before install for P2, and that you ran it once too before installing. Note re damage under 50 yards was fixed with CFS3.1 (this includes the exe which must be 3.1).

If it's Vista you need to make manager and shell.exe or cfs3.exe xp compatibility.

(P3 works fine with Vista/Win7).

Other than that I cannot offer any help on the free version P2 - too busy with P3 and P4 now. Hopefully the guys here can help if you still have problems.

Great news! It's working. Apparently, I did something wrong with the replacing and renaming of teh cfs3.exe and Shell.exe files. It's working now, though it is very choppy, and I can't figure out how to turn off the radar and labels. My next project is to fix my online payment issues, and purchase P3. Thanks to all who helped!
