I agree it's a bit wobbly. Part of this probably has to do with the poor damping authority of the automatic flight control system. ED is attempting to improve that and some other things, so just give them a little time. Also remember you are fighting the trim/attitude hold system when Flight Director is NOT on, and there is a momentary exacerbation of this when you first manually trim...resulting in the need to retrim again. Then there's the issue of the trimming of yaw, but that's not necessarily what you're worried about. If you're using a non-forcefeedback stick and XP, you might want to try my GlovePIE script and other things. It still requires a gentle hand, but just tell your family member who does Apache tests it's a crude method of Attitude Command/Attitude Hold that the newest Enhanced Apaches under testing with the side sticks use. He'll know what I mean. Clearly not as "care free", but it's a step in that direction for people with normal recentering joysticks at home.

The term "necroposting" was invented by a person with no social memory beyond a year. People with a similar hangup are those o.k. with the internet being transient vapor.

Alvin, I would be shocked if an active Apache pilot sat down at a forty dollar computer sim using a short handle stick and said "wow, this is just like flying the real thing!"

How accurate is the sim? To be honest, I don't know, as I have zero hours in a Ka-50.

Heck, it's a mutant double rotor system, so it just might be that wobbly and unstable. I'm guessing there's a really good set of reasons for why that configuration didn't suddenly revolutionize rotary flight and emulated by manufacturers world wide.

But we'll never get there from here, as the feel of engine and motion are completely lost to us behind our screens.

But certainly the Ka-50 shouldn't fly like an RC helicopter, and saying the flight model is bust because one can make a model do endless loops is rediculous.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

Perhaps the Ka50 beats a li'l harder? biggrin

The other theory on helicopter is that they make so much noise the Earth rejects them...

I find the flight dynamics rather realistic. I am not a pilot but 4.5 years working on them has given me a insight. I started working on the UH1's and transitioned to the UH60 in the early 80's.
I have logged several hundred hours flying, but not piloting smile
