I just bought an X-Box 360 and look forward to gaming with you all as soon as I get somewhat proficient with it. Right now, I've only got CoD4 and CoD5, but I did get a few good recommendations for FPS in CH.

Don't limit yourself to just games with your new 360 Electra, these boxes are great little Media Centers as well.

Assuming you have a robust home network, Windows XP/Vista (the server for example) or even USB keys.
Music and Video are yours to enjoy, like with custom soundtracks playing in the background of your favorite games. It makes the Fragging that much more .... personal .. ha.

sweet, I'll have to line that up! I'll have XBL set up by tomorrow, I still need to get the wireless adapter for my home network. What games do you guys normally play?

The guys are heavy into Gears of War 2 right now, Ghost recon 2 has been a regular, some rainbow six thrown in for good measure. Mags and some of the boys do some racing as well.

Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead are pretty popular. As is Forza 2 for racing.

I'm down for all of 'em. Thank God for pay day.

There are a lot of god games out there Electra that are available quite cheap now

the GRAW games, Rainbow 6 vegas 1 and 2 for example( the reason I mention those , is that they have a coop game mode)

for racing, you can't beat the Forza Motorsports 2 Platinum edition, it is 20 bucks and comes with every map pack and car released...

for the best tactical co-op experience, IMO, is GRAW2... if you can find the platinum edition of that one it comes with all maps released, 52 of them... nothing like getting the perfect co-op achievement with a squad of teammates online.

R6V2 is good, but rarely played now till they release some damn maps for it.

Battlefield Bad Company is worth the purchase, a good, funny single story (but the AI are idiots), and a fun multiplayer component, that lets you blow up everything.

If your into the alien type thing, Gears of war 2 is highly recommended, the SP is great... swimming in blood and chainsawing enemies... but the multiplayer is where that game shines, tons of modes, lots of maps... great great fun. (We just finished HORDE mode, screens in the screenshot forum).

Of course this year, we have Race Pro (from SimBin) coming in February.. that looks to be a good sim for the console. And we have IL2's Birds of Prey unknown when and no info on that but should be a good flight sim.

Whats great about the Xbox... great interface, friends list, See who's playing and what, in game chat, party modes, no router or firewall issues, and achivements...

the negatives... public servers, children, and occasional lag issues like when a new very popular game comes out or something, since everything goes through M$ servers.

BTW... most of the guys play almost daily, I play a few times a week, but if your able, every SAT between Noon (Eastern) and 4 or 5... we get together and play something organized.

Hope to see you online. (BTW, again... if you have your 360 near your PC router, better to use the wire connection instead of the wireless, but wireless works.)


ADDED: Ya, Left 4 Dead is big right now. Fantastic and very different game... teamwork is a MUST, or you die... but nice and simple, a bit fast paced thou so new controller uses might not be too fond of it.

The M$ wireless adapter is pricey, ideally you should get a wired connection, but if not, the Linksys or Dlink wireless bridges work too.
A wireless bridge allows wireless on one side of it, and an normal Ethernet cable attached device (like a PC or Xbox) on the other.
These can be had cheaper than the M$ adapter. The M$ adapter would be quick and easy though.

ok, picked up GR, GR2, GRAW and the first Forza, bad news is, they were out of wireless adapters. I'd love to run it through our router but it's literally on the other side of the house, so I'm stuck with the wireless thingie ( when it comes in this week ).

If you picked up the first Forza than you bought the orignal Xbox version, which will work on the 360. While it was an excellent game you probably want to pick up Forza 2 which is the new game for the 360.

Yep, they didn't have Forza2, so I figured I'd practice on this one until I found Forza 2 edition that Mag mentioned.

Is GR Ghost Recon and GR2 Ghost Recon 2? If so, those are original XBox games. They're compatible with the 360 but I don't know how many folks here still have them (aside from me, LOL).

While GRAW is good, you really want to get your hands on GRAW2. I don't think many of us even have GRAW anymore and GRAW2 is quite a bit better.

I've got the original Forza but I just re-bought Forza 2 this weekend. Should've never gotten rid of it in the first place.

GRAW is good just to get warmed up though, say for the single campaign.
Leemz is right that's GRAW2 is what we mostly play.
You'll need to get all the map packs for them too (most of us have them).

If driving games are you thing too, don't forget Project Gotham Racing 4, as well as Test Drive Unlimited. There's a few Flight Games too, Ace Combat 6 being probably the best of the lot (graphically at least).
