Sounds like a great project Wepps. Really looking forward to giving this a try.

I like the idea of a campaign and with multiple sources it should be interesting, but.... More 17 player missions? There are already about 15, 17 player missions on the server, in fact that is all there is on the server. The server has become a 1 dimensional, 1 day server. May as well shut it down for the other 6 days and save resources. There is no reason to go on the server any other day except Monday because: 1) there is no one on the server, and 2) there is nothing to play.
This may be fine for the players that only want to play on a Monday but I am sure there are many players who would like to play other days. I see new faces on the forum but often they say, "I am not up to the level of MM", but they don't have the chance to play on the server and gain experience.
Already we have Magnum complaining that there may be too many players on a Monday. Sure, there will be many players if that's the only day when they can get a decent game.
What if we released small, 6-10, player missions in between the larger ones? Example, disrupt supply routes or destroy ammo dumps etc, or different types of missions, with choppers and planes for example. There are a lot of players who like to fly but 99% of the missions are striker, humvee missions. And these missions must be completed before the next 17 player mission will be released for Mondays game. This would give smaller groups a chance to play, contribute to the campaign, and keep the server playable on the less populated days.

Monday is the day that people can make, so that is the type of gameplay that I focus on when making missions.
That said, not everyone of the newer missions requires the full 17. You could easily field two fire teams of eight and complete the missions with some good tactics.
I had planned on releasing smaller missions into the mix that had to do with special operations. So expect every few missions to require a smaller number of players. I'm also always up for you guys sending me missions to put on the server. I know we lost a few lately with the server wipe, so send them to me when you get them ready.

I don't think Dec was directing that at you Wepps. You have put some really cool stuff on our table man. Us amateurs/other members need to concentrate on some smaller stuff. I've been slackin personally. Now that I am 1. Seriously Single again 2. Got a little spare time and my puters running like a Ferrari out of the factory and... 3. I really wanna contribute something cool here, I just get carried away on my mission making and won't even think about releasing them with even a hint of a bug. I'm gonna try and K.I.S.S.,,I swear Seriously, we all need to submit some smaller missions. Let's have some cheese with the wine folks.

One thing I don't understand is the people constantly playing EVO on +G's server, rather than playing missions on SimHQ's server. (Not knocking +G or his server here at all, please don't think I am!).
EVO is very difficult, especially with only a small group of people. Is it the instant respawn that makes it so attractive? Should we be putting it back on the server (the Airborne version) since that seems to be what people play on days other than Sunday and Monday?

I think respawns are a factor. Not having to wait to get back into the game makes things enjoyable for some.
Now with enough AI helpers even one guy can clear a town. Especially when you gain access to the Cobras and Abrams.
The map is huge, so there are lots of things to do, flying, driving, sniping, cleaning up and repairing the mess, scouting, all kinds of things, side missions, etc. There's a different pace to it. People can come in, play for hours, or come in for an hour then leave.
Nixer and I were thinking of ways to make the respawns hurt. Like if you lost rank (alot) if you respawned, or just make the medic more powerful like if they can heal/revive you. Saves a trip back from base. He's also thinking of pulling the Cobras and putting in the Apache (but that will require mods again), so that just might get tested, maybe not, it was a thought.
I think you'd find that putting it back would just cause complaints and issues, just like last time. Sure would be nice to see how it worked on a Uber server though.

Well, seeing how popular it is on off nights, I don't see why we shouldn't have it on the server. The Airborne version does iron out some issues I had with it and being able to call in your own AI does make it fun.
Can you send me the mission +G? simhqwepps at gmail.com

People can come in, play for hours, or come in for an hour then leave. That is the appeal to me. On off nights when no one is around, or there are only 2 or 3 of us, EVO just fits the bill a little better than a real tactical mission. Plus, there are very few missions on the server that are good for only couple people. I know that some people are working on some smaller missions though. And it is possible to clear a town by yourself. I did Obregon this afternoon with just myself, my AI and my various sniper rifles as I ranked up. It took about 1 1/2 hours and I quit with around 100 infantry kills to my name. Of course, as soon as Nixer got his sound issues figured out and then adlabs and +G got on I had to go.

Yes, that was a good job Biff.
Today was the first time I ever used the Cobra for any length. Neat. Have to learn the A10 and Harriers next.

I almost had Pita cleared last night. I fought so hard for it, Dart was on for a while and we took Masbete, then later XRok was helping in Pita.
I gathered and repaired an M1A1, two repair trucks, two AH6, two Cobra, and I think it was Dart brought up two Strykers, and XRok brought some Hummers. Those dang Su and Kamov just cut everything we had though.
Finally I had my AI storming the airbase at Pita, and I cleared it at last by marching into the hangers myself to kill the final AI there. But again and again those Kamov just kept respawning, most of the time there were two of them.
Then just as the sun was going down and it was THIS close to falling... I crashed to desktop. It was 3AM so I had to quit. ARRG.
@Wepps, about EVO. I have not played it often lately. I probably am so heavy into it this week since I missed the serious missions last weekend. But to put it in a strange way, EVO is like a single player game that several people can play at the same time. Last night before Dart came online, and then between the time he went off and XRok came on, I was all alone fighting it out.

Nice Wepps! Isn't there a tiny little pesky island north of 27? Not like you have a bit on your plate or anything!
Wow, when you get this going, it'll be sweet.
PS-You need some strange brew mixed in there somewhere, is there snow yet in ArmA?

I'm sure I will be adding some more special forces missions into the mix as we go and things make more sense. So I imagine there might be a 26.5 that would take of that island or something...

Well to answer some of the comments that "Magnum is already complaining that theres too many players on Monday" type responses... Oh well, we started out with the SimHQ server with a direction and a goal, we catered to everyone who commented... I like and prefer a stricter style of play with as much realism and as much true tactics as possible in a warfare game... I had Serious Sunday and Military Monday for that type of play ONLY because thats the days I'm off of work.(I work nights the other 5 nights, well really 4) I gave force on force 2 days a week, Fun Friday for the DART crowd, and EVO all day Sat... then I got burned out with only 2 days off a week, I wanted to play some other games, so NOW I only play on Military Monday, and that day is squad size plus coopertive missions with more strict rules of play... don't blame me if you guys can't get together one of the other 6 nights a week and run a game or something. I being there shouldn't be a requirement for a good night on the SImHQ server, but thanks. Military Monday stays as is, and I will be there to play... if you don't like it or prefer something else ON MONDAY, then I suggust you find a new server or host your own... or again, use one of the other 6 days to do whatever. Military Monday is Military Monday and thats the way it is and will remain. NOW to get back on topic... looks great Wepps... so do I understand each mission will be played in order, and on a multiplayer level... if so, maybe a campaign night is in order. Can't wait to check it out myself.

Well, nothing will prevent anyone from playing the missions out of order, once they are all on the server. Misison number 1 is on the server, but to date, we haven't completed it. When we complete it and when its finished, number 2 will go up. Same same with number 3. So, nothing will prevent people from playing the missions more than once and I'm designing them to be replayable, when possible.
If you are opposed to the campaign missions being played on Mondays, we can always have a campaign night, but I'd rather you be there, since you helped lay the groundwork for all of this anyway.
