Just wanted to say that the new forums look great! They are also must faster for me!! Awesome job!

I second that... very nice looking forums indeed, BRAVO!!

Actually, I have the opposite opinion. The right-hand one-fourth of the screen taken up with superfluous information and the subsequent squeezing of the essential body of the forum, to me, has added clutter.

• I know what day it is (don't need the calender)
  
• The "who's online" listing at the bottom of the previous format worked well enough without being a distraction (isn't a prime reason for coming to the forums anyway)
  
• I don't care about poster counts or stats...I come here for information provided by the community.

Sorry, I know someone put a lot of work into the new format, but IMHO it did not add to the usefulness of the forums inasmuch as the user is concerned. Still, based on the actual forum content, SimHQ is still a top choice for the communities represented and is on my daily "to do" list.

You can turn that off in "My Stuff > My Preferences"

I noticed it seems I have to log in everytime I visit the forums; dont I get one of those cookie thingies to keep me looged on? Didnt have to do that with the old forum. Im also gonna close out the clutter on the side.

Looks very good. I was going through withdrawal waiting for the forums to come back up again.

I find the new layout hard to read. There's much more "separation" between each posting.

not only is there much more separation, I think that the menues like the Calendar option, Forum Stats, etc on the right hand side force use to scroll around.

Nice on the whole, but I have a couple of minor niggles:

1) I think I preferred the slightly darker grey of the old background; this one is awful bright.

2) On the banner above each post, the text after "Re:" is in dark blue, and the date is in black. Those characters are extremely difficult to read against the red banner, especially with the bright grey page. I suggest at minimum, the dark blue text be tweaked to powder blue to compete with the red, and the date ought to be white like the time, or play with some other values if you feel you need to separate post# from time with a different colour. At any rate, the black doesn't work.

On the thread overview in each forum, the names of threads and posters are all blue on blue/grayish background. The default blue also looks like a standard "internet explorer hyperlink blue" - not really polished, and hard to read.

I also think it's bad that post titles and OP names are the same color, it all just messes into one large blue-text colum...

Would be nice if the board offered us to customize colors, or if we had a few more stylesheets to chose from.

Woot! Red banner between posts changed to grey; works very nicely for me. Fast work, if in fact my comment had any influence!

If you're still in the new-forum-software-polishing mode, guys, a couple of minor suggestions. It was nice that the old forum had a "new topic" button both at the top and the bottom of each page; no other forum I use does that, and it is really a nice convenience. It would be cool if that could be continued with the new forum.

And, it seems like when clicking through topics on the posts page with the "new topic" button, it treats the thread order as it is listed on the page, rather than by post date, so you get led through stickied topics even if they have had no new posts in months. Perhaps this is something to do with going through the new-style fora for the first time , but it seems like it's happening even on second and third visits to fora.

It's fixed. I forgot an html tag on the page late last night (yawn).

The dev is still working on fixing the sick smileys.
