Hi all,
I'm having a problem with Internet Explorer. Whenever I try to save an image, the program only allows me to save it as a bitmap. It does not matter if the image is jpeg or gif, it will only save as a bmp. This problem recently arose and I can find no reference on how to fix it. Any help is appreciated.

Would you consider using a different browser? Say...Firefox?

I discourage all of my family from ever clicking on the IE icon...just asking for problems.

Firefox is no more secure. You just need to look over the past couple of months to see that.

Yes. There are thousands of infected boxes, all of them infected so because of using the evil Firefox.

I didn't say anything about security. Just that using IE is asking for problems. It is my opinion that Firefox is a superior browser, would address his particular issue, and make his browsing experience better....so I *asked* him if he would consider it.

I somehow knew that you would have something to say about my comment...I thought to myself "is it gonna be worth it to try to suggest a non-microsoft solution to this guy if Rilex tries to start a debate?"

Another vote for any browser other than IE.
Opera 8 & Firefox are very good indeed, better in just about every way than IE.

id say firefox is more secure why ??? because it doesnt support bho's or active x controls

I got that problem too with IE. I always fixed it (per method 1 in Tracer's link) by deleting temporary internet files.
I've since switched to Firefox for sites where I do a lot of picture viewing/saving. Haven't had that problem there and the auto resizing works better too, IMO. I still use IE for most of my other browsing, though.

Thanks Tracer and mbeaver; the fix worked. Also guys let's not start a "this browser VS that browser" debate. I was a Netscape diehard before reluctantly moving to IE. Anyway, we all have our preferences, but thanks for the input.

I've played around with Firefox back in its early days (may have even been a beta). For some reason I did not stick with it because of some problems I encountered. I do have Opera and use it often. I may try Firefox again, when I have time to play around with it.

Anyway... thanks again for the help. Just a note: I always come here for help first because of the great community we have at SimHQ. You guys have helped me solve multiple issues over the years. Thanks!!!
