Or Childhood's End.
Or any of a dozen other stories.
Until we know where the story goes beyond "aliens arrive, we try to talk, big action ensues" you really can't judge.
Trailers are by and large irrelevant. They are indicative of the skill of the trailer editor, not the film's quality.
