Dragons don't have fire in their belly. They have a highly volatile fluid in a special pouch in their throat that is then ignited by passing over their teeth, either by the eddies created by the teeth's serration or by gases released from bacteria growing on the dragon's teeth. The only scientists that found out were immediately after eaten by said dragons and were therefore not able to share this information.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
