I am about to buy and install WOFF. Since I live in two different places, I was told to save the download of the game to a thumb drive and take to my second home (over 1,000 miles away) and install it there and patch it. The problem is that I am not a Windows kinda guy. When I do a download it shows up in the upper left corner of the screen, do I put the download into my C: drive and then copy it to the thumb drive?

That sounds a bit right.

Should be something like this:
1. Download
2. Open file explorer, go to C:\Users\[your username]\Downloads
3. Copy the installer
4. Paste on thumb drive

Remember to store your keys in a safe place!

Snow, have a look at the WOFF BH&H II FAQ; the initial sections 2 to 4 explain installation, where to find the order number for WOFF (which is used for the key) etc (sections 2A and 2b go over keys).

When I copy the down load to my thumb drive do I unzip the files?

Might as well keep them in the zip for the bit of compression/size reduction you get.

Then if you need to reinstall in the future, you can just unzip it then.

I am pretty sure you can’t “ Play “ WOFF from the thumb drive ( Registry issues ) so you need to install it on your PC. I have tried to play WOFF from a thumb drive but could never get it going.

As Space Ghost mentions ..keep them zipped that will save space. You can copy the files then from the thumb drive to the drive and PC,s you like.

Then unzip them (i use winzip) to the drive ..SSD drives offer quicker loading in my experience. And run the installer.

Youll need to do this for every PC you run WOFF on you cannot just copy all the directory files from a full installed WOFF and paste o a new PC etc because of registry issues.

You could also if you wanted download the latest patch onto the drive and unzip the same way. Make a note of youre order number and the email address of your order in case of any issues that may arise.

Good advice Buddies, you and SG are spot on.

Status: Downloaded and copied to thumb drive. I started up the program, created a pilot but when I went to Campaign the program crashed. I did try a short flight and it seemed to work ok. I need to go back to see the video on how to set up the controllers/flight stick but no matter what I do selecting campaign boots me out of the game. I did do the patch and it says my program is version 1.38 if I remember correctly. Any idea what is causing the crash?

What version of WOFF do you have Snow ?

When it starts up it says V1.38. I created another pilot and flew in the other two single mission selections with no issues, but when I select Campaign I see a short picture of an aircraft and then am kicked out of the game.

I mean what is it called ? I have WOFF The Last Hurah ( TLH ), what is yours name.

Patch 1.38 was for Between Heaven and Hell, and came out it 2021.

Yes Snow if you have just BHAH II then 1.38 is the latest patch. Have you purchased and installed any of the add ons (OTT and TLH)?
If not then you have the correct patch installed.

Have you installed exactly as the FAQ recommends? installing the Direct x files as noted there's a link below here to the FAQ please read it mate it's invaluable

Down in the FAQ there is a section that talks to my problem. It is caused by a couple of selections in the toolbox. If you are asking for a video of each flight, (IIRC) then it can screw up the campaign mode. I changed my selections and the program runs just fine now. I did put this on my post yesterday, but could not find it this morning. It is not a DirectX issue as my copy of WOTR still runs just fine (not sure why that is but not complaining)*. Polovski did a great job on the FAQ so thanks to him, it seems to be just fine now.

One other question (for now). How do I initiate training and how do I fly recon/bombing runs...do I select that option in the beginning? Is it advisable to learn how to fly WWI aircraft? Also should I start very early in the war or later?

Update, figured out how to start training (does the trainer ever talk to you?)

What does the tactical display do?
