I try to watch F1 and Superman when my sisters were watching them and I just didn't feel the love.

I've been watching Twisted Metal which has been out for a while so I've been binge watching it through the first season.It's actually great and totally fun even if you've never played a video game and if you have there are easter eggs all over the place from game references to the over the top satire and one notable first a sex-scene in the Ball Pit of a Fast Food joint.

Watching Passengers again, plausible and think about what I would do in that situation traveling half the speed of light after traveling alone for a year.. Think I would pick Jennifer Lawrence.

Twisted Metal is low key the best of the recent video game to T.V. adaptations, and the one I had the least expectations of.

Black Mirror s3 ep 4 - San Junipero.

This was a hard one to watch for me, at first I wasn't really into it, then it got good, and then I was saddened by the ending, not just because of the storyline itself but because it reminded me of a girlfriend I lost to cancer in the early '90s, who loved the song Heaven Is A Place On Earth. 😭

I've never played the game but it is so over the top it reminds me of many titles I have played in the same genre and I have found myself chuckling more than anything else I have watched in a while, Oddly for me Sweet Tooth has become my Favorite Character.

The game series is fun for what it is and doesn't take itself too seriously and the t.v. series reflects that.

It also helps that it doesn't seem to have made itself a vehicle for hamfisted political propaganda, looking at you The Last of Us...

Alien: Earth last night was very Alien

I don't like this retro-fitting into the Alien universe. The great thing about Alien (1979) is that it really is alien - the ship is like nothing ever seen before, all asymmetric & somehow organic even though clearly constructed. The pilot in it, you couldn't tell where it ended and the ship started. The alien itself was nothing humanoid until it parasitically took DNA references from its host.

Now, bleah, it was big blue men all the time.

They literally took the alien out of Alien.

This week:

"Blade Runner" the Final Cut. A 1982 film, revised somewhat in 2007 for DVD. Set in the year 2019.

"Blade Runner 2049". The sequel to Blade Runner. Set in the year 2049. It answers questions and finalizes things that got started in 2019.

Both were interesting and "different" from most films I've watched.

They were suggested to me by PanzerMeyer. I like his suggestions.

Another artificial intelligence movie I highly recommend Allen is “Ex Machina”.

I ordered it. Coming on Sunday.

Watched: The Naked Gun 2025 - the reviews indicate it was so funny you will be laughing every second. Not me. I laughed, giggled, snickered, chuckled maybe 6 times total during the 85 min.

The ending credits scroll was funnier than the whole of the movie.

Also seeing Llam Neeson doing comedy, I just cannot believe it. He will always be the tough guy. Should had cast a different actor.

Watched: Nobody 2. Not great like the first. The movie that was made was not what was discussed for the sequel.

The story is still on IMDB. That's what I wanted to see. His wife is also a secret government assassin.

I’m currently rewatching Battlestar Galactica (the one for adults not kids) and I was immediately reminded that this is one of the greatest sci-fi series ever made.

FYI The Final Cut version changes something critical about one of the characters versus the original Theatrical Release that most of us grew up watching over and over.

I am pretty sure you've seen the original, at your age, but trying to avoid spoilers just in case.

And yet it could have been so much better if they had not gone so deep into the "mysticism" of the Lords of Kobol, "all this has happened before, and it will all happen again" etc.


I would rather have seen a more straight up man vs the "robots" fight. They could still have had human like androids but just don't make them quite so real, give them some small tick that will give them away if you know what to watch for etc. Also make them rare, not being spit out by a factory by the hundreds.

Meh

Subtitle should be "Girl Trek" given how this Enterprise seems to be crewed mostly by females.

And I'm not sure what Pikes' purpose is, most of his command decisions are only made after he asks for ideas from everyone else. A ship run by committee.... a far cry from Captain Kirk.
