Sorry Terl9999, my sentence structure wasn't very clear there in my post. "Force 10 From Navarone" does not have the same cast. It does have a great cast though in my opinion, especially Robert Shaw and Harrison Ford's interactions which are sometimes very amusing such as when they are trying to navigate the dam structure. Then there is Edward Fox the explosives expert and his box of goodies and Carl Weathers as a young American G.I. who gets caught up in their secret mission.

Found "The Drew Carey Show" on Pluto and been watching that occasionally recently, it's not been available on streaming anywhere in a long time.

To date that’s the only tv show I know of to be set in Cleveland. lol.

I watched the Old Guard 2, I had seen the first one and it was pretty good and "2" was alright but fell short because obviously they plan a "3" because it left a lot of hanging loose ends that were unresolved and Uma Thurman's Character underused, I actually couldn't believe it ended like it did so it was dissapointing

Buying this. 50th Anniversary edition dropped last week.

F1 The Movie.
I was planning to watch it on streaming, but I got to see it at the theater. I'm glad I did.

It did not suck
Actually I really liked it.

It kept the schmaltz to a minimum.
And the racing was very good

Look at the title of the episodes, they mention Luftwaffe, SS, Panzers but do not mention the Navy or the U-Boat.

How can a documentary about the Nazi war machine not mention the U-Boat?

As noted in another thread, I watched three recent Star Trek movies. Over the last 2 days. Watching that many movies in a month is VERY RARE for me. Normally, if I have spare time to just "kill", I play a PC game -- usually an RPG.

As a regular thing, I'm watching the complete "Ironside" series (Raymond Burr). I've just finished the "first season" yesterday.

This is my second time through Ironside. Its a "pleasant" way to "pass time" just before bed. As noted in the other thread, I watch movies/TV series to be "enveloped" by the story. I watch without critiquing and promptly forget the details -- so, watching again a year or 10 later works for me.

I’ve found with historical movies I can let most inaccuracies slide if I am being drawn into the performances and writing but some inaccuracies are so egregious that I instantly go into “rolling eyes” syndrome.

I buy your approach.

In my process of being "enveloped", I let the storyteller tell. But, I too can be "un-enveloped" and "turned off" by things. There have been multiple TV series I've started watching and quit on after a very few episodes. I usually finish movies that are going badly; but, then I feel I just wasted my time watching.

I would guess (by your comments over the years), you know a LOT more history than I do. So, you would be more likely to be "rolling eyes" at a time I would not be "un-enveloped" -- because of my "ignorance".

My tolerance is based on the scale of the deviation from reality. Compressing the time-line and leaving out less critical events is to be expected to keep a movie from going 4 hours. Combining less critical characters into one composite character is okay sometimes. I really draw the line at altering facts for politically driven reasons... changing or muddling who the bad guys were is pretty common. Making historical European leaders from 500 years ago black or female is a more recent one that will make me an immediate non participant.

Society has enough misinformation. I too agree that "significant" True Historical Facts should not be altered to "please the audience" or "indoctrinate the audience" or "for any other reason".

The most egregious example I can think of is the duplicitous show "Black Sails."

Starts off as a nice prequel to Robert Lewis Stevenson's famous "Treasure Island," but punches you in the gut partway through season two with woke absurdity. What they did to Captain Flint was unforgiveable, and I turned off the show, immediately, after the "reveal."

Reminded me of a college professor I stood up to, way back, and even took a D in the class because remaining silent to his militant nonsense would have been wrong.


Hell, I don't care if I spoil this one.

They turned a pirate into a butt pirate.


But there was more going on here than that. This was grooming, up until the moment. Truly twisted and sick how they wrote and psychologically manipulated the audience, subtly.

Watched it a couple of days ago. I liked it. Brad Pitt is good in everything I’ve seen him in (Even Ad Astra, an otherwise terrible movie), and he is his usual self in this one. Good action, good racing scenes, some nice flashes of humour and quick back-and-forths, and good tie-ins to the last couple of F1 seasons and drivers.

It's time for this franchise to die.
