Unfortunately the actor who played Saris passed away a few years ago. He was perfectly cast for that movie.
I think Alan Rickman passing away was a bigger loss for the franchise.

Sarris was vaporized in the last act so he wasn't coming back for a sequel anyway. Loosing Rickman is devastating for any attempt at a sequel.

The first season of The Rookie. Loosely based off of the story of LAPD cop William Norcross a guy who at 40 something decided to be a cop and moved across the country and joined the LAPD, mostly because they don't have an age limit provided you pass the physical tests. Follows the fictional John Nolan and two other rookies who just completed their academy training and are now on the probationary and field training period. It's a bit cheesy and over the top at times, but the cast is mostly likeable and it's entertaining enough that I think I'll give the next season or two a shot.

That he is! I would have loved to see him in the Uncharted movie instead of Tom Holland. He would have been perfect! Indeed, he even made his own «fan fiction» short with himself as Nathan Drake.

I find it interesting how some former cast members of Firefly managed to have flourishing acting careers while others disappeared. One actor who comes to mind is Sean Maher who played Simon. He really did an incredible job on Firefly but I haven't seen him in anything else since then.

The guys from the Unauthorized History of the Pacific War Podcast did an episode on their favorite WWII Pacific movies. They also listed several of the worst such movies. I'm certain there are some folks here who will be shocked by some movies on the lists...

I'll watch the video a bit later but right now off the top of my head the three Pacific war movies that go under the "worst" category for me are:
1. Windtalkers - Cage was miscast and the movie overall just didn't work for me dramatically.
2. Pearl Harbor - Michael Bay. 'Nuff said.
3. The Thin Red Line - When I wasn't falling asleep I kept smirking at the overall pretentiousness of the movie. Is this a movie about the Guadalcanal campaign or a philosophy course?

"PT109" and "The Bridge on the River Kwai"(Technically on the border) are two of my favorite pacific theater films. I haven't seen both since I was a kid.
I really enjoyed "The Thin Red Line." Terrence Malick did a spectacular job, despite the naysayers.

I think part of the problem is that all of the pre-release marketing for the movie made it seem like it was going to be "Saving Private Ryan but set in the Pacific". So it's possible that I just had the wrong expectations when I decided to see it in the theater.
