Yes it is.
What`s yours guys? I forgot and there are tons of pages to search. smile

Psssst: I asked a general question in PWEC. Now I am labeled for something that I am not.
More scary down there than in the game. biggrin

I am ExitOversteer in this game.

It pays to be patient. I wanted a skin for my rifle since the default one is a bit too distressed. I had spotted the matte black skin in a bundle on the Atomic Shop, but it was like 1700 atoms since it included a bunch of stuff I don't care about, like posters and helmets probably. But today the skin is on sale by itself for 350. Snapped that up tout suite.

Since we were talking about weapon modification, there's a setting called advanced mod descriptions or similar. By default, when you want to make a change to a component, it shows red and blue arrows to convey if the mod will decrease or increase that stat, like accuracy or recoil. But with advanced mod descriptions it displays the actual percentage. Game changer. I couldn't know how much a particular thing was changed before. Now that I can, it changes which mods I want.

For example, the stock for the Handmade. Before, I was choosing the True Stock, since it improved a bunch of things. Aim speed, stability, hip fire accuracy, aimed accuracy and recoil. That is pretty good. But by how much? Who knows?

But now that I can see the numbers, I like the stabilized stock, which has a much better recoil control.

The true stock improves aim speed by 3%, stability by 4%, and hip fire by 25%. But I don't care about that. It does improve sighted accuracy by 35% and recoil by 10% which is really good and I want that.

The stabilized stock does nothing for aim speed, but who cares. Stabilize is the same. It does lose 10% sighted accuracy (+25%), and does nothing for hip fire, but I rarely do that anyway. The kicker though is stabilized stock is 35% recoil reduction, which by itself more than makes up for the accuracy loss, you know? It's much more controllable, and with automatic rifles this is key. I guess if you use VATS a lot this stuff might not matter much. But if you do a lot of free aim it makes a big difference.

By focusing on a specific weapon I get a lot of cracks at making a good one. The regular mods can be built anytime if you have the mats. But the legendary effects are rolled. It's straight up RNG. And you can't 'add' to it. You always need to roll over the former effect if you want to add or change any particular effect. It's not smart to do that anyway, as you're better off rolling a new weapon, rather than overwriting the existing one. So it all means that you probably need to roll a bunch before you get combinations you want. All of this is gated by the legendary currencies, modules and cores. These are easy enough to come by if you're doing the right activities, but it does slow your roll, that pun was intended. You could get lucky with your first attempt I guess. Mutant Slayer's with great bash damage is not for me you know? So it's a process no doubt. I do like this one however, and she is sporting the new matte black skin. This rifle benefits from both the Commando perks and from Demo Expert because of the explosive effect. Of course it is especially lethal against humans, but it does very well against everything else too.

The only thing I didn't mod is the barrel, and I don't like how it is handled in Fallout. Recoil should be improved by a longer barrel. More mass, less recoil. Fallout says the opposite. An aligned long barrel ADDS 37% recoil. So I left it where it is. Short barrels compromise the range too much, especially when using suppressors.

Wow . I can only dream of that Handmade rifle at my level

Do you remember where or how you got the plan for it?

I bought the plan from one of the vendors at Whitespring Mall. It was 1700 caps, probably with one rank of Hard Bargain at that time. Can't recall which vendor though. You can also check train station vendors who may have it too. You need to be at least level 15.

But as I said you can farm the lumber company in the northwest corner and get the gun there too so you can have one at level 15 and not need to farm vendors. You'll probably still want the weapon plan, but this way if you don't find the plan right away, or don't have enough caps, it won't matter. I'll also offer to craft you one fully modded (or unmodded too) if you want. It will feel strong at 15, but slowly fall off until you can get another one at level 25 and so on until 45 when it stops leveling. It can of course be full or semi-automatic, and you'll want to invest in Rifleman or Commando to get the most out of it.

I sent you the friend invite yesterday.

As for PWEC, i don't miss it one bit. Just people yelling their opinions at others until they are blue in the face in the hopes of changing their minds. Waste of time if you ask me!

I'll send you one too Wigean, if you are keen to have friends smile

And if you want a Handmade rifle, design it. Tell me which mods you'd want on it and we can have you armed up when you turn 15. If you'd rather do all this on your own I totally get it. But if I can help kickstart it for you I'm more than happy to do so. I've got a lot of materials haha. Now over 200 screws! It's actually ballistic fiber that is my issue now. I made the Chinese stealth suit a few days ago and that ran me out. Ballistic fiber is used to craft armor and also in armor repair, so it goes fast for me and is fairly rare. Grab every military ammo bag and military duct tape you come across.

I built that rifle shown above, called Persecution, yesterday and used it all day. This thing is lethal. I'm actually carrying two Handmades plus the Fixer. The other is Instigating Hitman's. And then a third one with Vampire on it for the harder events. The life steal works great in big boss and mob fights.

I had suggested earlier making the squirrel backpack so you can do the summer camp event for the legendary modules it rewards. They won't be too useful at low level, or I guess I should say they should probably be saved for higher level when the weapons will be more useful and for longer. But there's another nice reward from the summer event. Two of the challenges reward three perk packs each. That's 24 free perk cards if you do them both.

Hi . I will gladly accept the offer. Very kind of you. smile
I have not come so far that I know which mods are available. And I am not familiar with weapons really. Although I have a small statue that was awarded to me in the military.
"Best shooter in the Company". Oh yeah. biggrin

Meanwhile I have left Grafton Steel.
No sense staying there if I want to get any further.
I was planning to visit or find the lumber company that you mentioned DBond. In the northwest
Long walk though.I

I ami in Morganstown now. Went to the railwaystation to check which weapons that was available.
No machine guns though.
Also low on credits. Bought some meds.

I solved a riddle at the university that brought me to Big Al the tatoo guy.
Went down in the basement and talked to Biv, the robot.
I was asked to find a missing ingridient of Nukashine and open a supply room. But there I am stuck for now.
Probably a quest of no value, but who knows?

OK, I understand. How about I just cook the rifle up the way I would use it? You just have to tell me if you'd rather have semi-auto or full-auto. And that should be whichever of Commando or Rifleman you are going to spec in to so you can get the most effectiveness out of it. I went Commando myself. Full auto is an ammo eater of course, but I prefer it in FO76.

And then we need Panzer to tell us how to get together. he knows how to find me, and I would need to know to find you. I'll send you a friend request and if you accept it, it will make this easy I think. What level are you now? I'll craft a kick ass Handmade Rifle for you, level 15. Once we work it out, maybe you can stop by my camp for the rifle. I already have a name for it (which you can change)

I can put a scope on it, although I would put reflex sight if you had no preference. Maybe semi-auto players would prefer a scope? Reflex is usable at all ranges and lowers AP cost so I prefer that.

I I think I am more of the sniper type, so I guess a scope is to prefer.
Also because I have not been able to improve my armour. So I am very vulnerable on short range,

I confirmed Panzer earlier today. Tried to search your name , but didn`t find you.

Edit. Sorry I forgot. I am only on level12 still.

OK, scoped it is! You won't be able to wield it until level 15, but it'll give you something to look forward to, and have it at 15 when there's a bit of a combat spike. It should all dovetail nicely. And 5.56 won't start dropping until level 15 which will be a hindrance early. If you have Scrounger it helps a lot. Be sure to take Rifleman to boost the damage. And there's a perk that gives some bonuses to using scopes, but I haven't taken that.

Let's get this done before you hit 15.

Yes, what perks are you picking? Rifleman rank 1 boosts semi-auto damage by 10%. Ranks 2 and 3 each raise it another 5% for +20% if you take all three ranks. Later, you can do the same with Expert Rifleman and Master Rifleman. If you invest all nine points here it would boost your damage by 60%. Of course points are limited, so you may choose to distribute them differently, but you should take rank 1 of all three cards I think for at least 30% damage boost.

Scrounger is a +40% chance to find extra ammunition in containers. You semi-auto guys don't need as many rounds I reckon, but this is still a good perk when ammunition stocks are low, and they will be low for 5.56 for a while,

I keep talking about focusing on a particular weapon, and it's needed really because if you spec in to more than one weapon the build will be spread thin and none of your weapons will be optimized. Much later, when you're high level, you can have the luxury of using different weapon types as you will probably have accumulated the perk cards needed to run different builds. But through level 100 at least it's smart to focus on a specific type of weapon so you are maximizing your damage.

Your rifle is ready for pick up sir. But I want to ask if you have a preference for the muzzle mod. Do you want a suppressed rifle? If not I can install a muzzle brake or compensator to nearly eliminate recoil, but that suppressor is good for keeping you alive. All of these mods reduce the range, so I could leave the muzzle stock to give you the most possible range if you plan to use it like a sniper rifle. And if you would select from the menu....

Standard magazine -- 20 rounds
Stinging magazine -- 25 rounds , +20% armor piercing
Quick magazine -- faster reload 20 rounds?
Perforating magazine -- 10 rounds +40% armor piercing
Swift magazine -- 25 rounds? faster reload

Pick the one that sounds best and I'll install it. I sent you a friend request so we will just need to coordinate, and hopefully Panzer will tell us how to find each other, how to get in the same server.

I had a fantastic session last night, mostly because of the lunchboxes. I had been collecting these from various rewards and giveaways. Had not used one yet. When I joined an event and there were about 10 players all there, I busted one out. A couple other players, inspired by my generosity, did the same. The upshot is that I got the Very Well Rested effect, which grants +75% XP for an hour. That happened three times! So for three hours I was just raking in the XP. I was on a team, was also Well Rested for another 5%, and Inspirational gives another 10%. I went from level 91 to level 97 in that short span. I just kept joining events, and in between I was running quick fetch quests for Sophia. 2000 XP a pop. I could just fast travel to the spot, kill everything there and grab what I came for, and fast travel back to CAMP. Since I could turn these in at camp (Sophia is CAMP Ally), I could use my CAMP perk loadout which is 15 INT for even more XP!

#1 Thank you for helping me out DBond.

I hope I can give you back some day.
I am impressed with your knowledge of the game. I am not used to this type of games, but it seems you guys are on another planet. smile

With regards to magazines, I am not sure. The immediate thought is 25 rounds and 20% armour piercing?
Muzzle is sound silenced, right? If so that would be preferable.
And if I should guess, recoil is a less problem with a semi-auto than a auto ?

I accepted your friend request earlier today. Thank you.
Haha, on mylevel I will probably be a burden should we meet. biggrin

I got involved in a quest in Morgantown.
Seems the students started to produce moonshine in Big Al`s basement. smile
I have solved a couple of problems, but have some left.
I will probably try to finish the quest becouse I guess that will have some awards and hopefully a rise of level.

Now I have to investigate the perks you mentioned.

Don't mention it. I'm more than happy to help, and you owe me not a thing.

Stinging magazine is a fine choice. That's what I use in my rifles. Consider it done.

Recoil is less of an issue with semi-auto, a little bit. It will affect how quickly you can get your next aimed shot off, while you wait for recoil to subside. Low recoil in a semi-auto gives you a faster effective fire rate, so it's nice to have. But as with any mod there's an opportunity cost of picking this over that. If you want a suppressor that settles the issue. I recommend it because the enemies will take longer to find you, less aggro on your position, giving you the chance to reposition. Keeping the enemies in [Caution] while crouched will make all hits sneak attacks for double damage. The suppressor makes it easier to remain in [Caution] or [Hidden], both states grant sneak attack bonuses.

If you have questions about perks, and build synergy, just post it up. Between Panzer and I we should have some solid advice. The key, I think, is striking the right balance between combat perks and quality of life perks. At some point you'll want to build a Punch Card Machine in your camp. This allows you to have multiple loadout presets. When in camp, have all your crafting perks, and when venturing afield, swap to your combat loadout. Nice.

Thanks for coming by, Panzer. The plans are great and I love the sheriff's hat. Crafted that straight away and on to my dome it went. That's my style.

I wrote all that before, about how I was piling up bonuses to rake in the XP and today I'm getting a single bonus 2x XP. What's that from?

Here I am in the last known picture of me before the sheriff's hat haha (this is the campaign hat). Jamming out on the old Martin, while Panzer cooks up some grub in the background at my camp.

Great screenshot DBond! That 2x XP bonus happens from time to time whenever Bethesda decides to have a special bonus weekend. I think it's their way of saying "thanks" for the support from the player community.

Yes, thanks, the double XP weekend is great. It's raining experience points. Just noodling around I gained another four levels, now 101. And at level 100 you unlock the third legendary perk.

I agonized over this decision. The fact of the matter is since ranking up the perk takes an increasing amount of perk points it is a long grind to max these out. Level 600 or thereabouts as we discussed earlier. So which one would be of the most use when I could only rank it up once or twice? I considered Intelligence, so I could max out Demo Expert and add some new perks. But there are not many INT perks I want to run in the commando loadout. Intelligence perks are great for crafting, but not as many for out in the field if you're not rocking power armor and heavy weapons. I considered Endurance, but these are mostly quality of life perks. Some are very good, but I didn't want to burn a legendary slot when the same things could have been accomplished with a key press or two, like removing radiation for example. Nice to have, but it's the opportunity cost, man. Same with What Rads? That sounds great, but I can do the same thing with a Rad-X and Radaway.

So I went with Follow Through. While deciding about this I went to Nukes and Dragons to look over all perks. And I noticed it said Follow Through's effect lasts for 30 seconds. I thought it was 10, but 30 is like way better. At 30 seconds I have time to reposition, attack multiple targets and so on. So I came back to the game and took the perk. Only then did I notice it is actually 10 seconds. Derp.

With double XP for the next few days, we need to work out the rifle drop Wigean. You should have it for turning 15, and with the XP boost this will come quickly. I think we have a six hour time difference. So maybe you can stay up late tonight or tomorrow, or we can do it Sunday. You should be able to join me, and if you can come to my camp I'll stuff the loot bag for you. Anything you are in need of?

I really like the hat Panzer, best gift I've gotten yet smile

I did end up maxing out Demo Expert by swapping a SPECIAL point from Endurance to Intelligence, taking Demo Expert 5 in place of Dromedary. I have a lot of purified water, so this just means I have to drink more often. Not a big deal. More boom is a nice trade off! I can now craft Nuka mines too, which is nice.
