I also saw the first season of Reservation Dogs. Story follows four teens on a reservation in Oklahoma about a year after one of their friends committed suicide. They take up a bunch of crimes and hustle jobs to raise cash to get the heck out of there as fast as possible before they end up like him. It's well done. The characters area great. It's mostly serious, but has some good humor thrown into the mix that mostly works well. The exception is a spirit one of the characters starts seeing that's a bit too over the top and silly and it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the show. This has pinged my radar a little, thanks for the mention. Sounds good, but depressing. But it is also very real. Reservations in Canada face similar hardships. Addiction, crime, mental health issues. Very sad. Yeah I hear you. My interest is that it doesn't sound too gritty - like The Wire or something similar, which I just find too oppressive to watch. Well made no doubt, but just too relentlessly depressing. If it has some decent drama but also can be lighter & whimsical at times, I'm willing to give it a go.

They should also make a movie about the Charlemagne Waffen SS division that was one of the very last units to defend the Reich Chancellery in April 1945.

IMO it has a lighter tone than described, more like a dark comedy with some undertones. I'm getting better at sniffing out decent TV based on small amounts of info  thx for the recommendation.

I was something like 11 or 12 when it first aired, used to watch it with my dad. Space 1999 was pretty decent TV for the time, and it's possible to get some nostalgia from rewatching it now, as I did a couple of years ago. First season was better than the second. Was Gerry Anderson's foray back into live actors, his previous TV was things like Thunderbirds. His other live-actor production was UFO, stylistically similar to Space 1999.

What always struck me about Space 1999 is that it was created by a Brit and it was shot entirely in the UK but the two main lead actors of the show were American!

Maybe one day I'll give it another shot but when I saw it in the movie theater back in 1998 I really had to fight back the sleepiness and boredom.

It is a long drawn out but its trying to show what went on in grunts heads which is what i like.
Those islands must have been hell to try and capture.
