Two questions. One is, there are items in the Atomic store I don't want that are free. Problem is, they are always marked as free so I duly click it to see what is new. But it's just the thing I don't want. Any way to mark them as seen so the New marker goes away?
And what's the deal with the scoreboard? Are there some tactics here or things I should know? Or is it just redeem as they go? Don't care about stuff like gold weapon skins, but the atoms and money and stuff is good. What is the lunch box for, what does it do? It says open near friends.
I had asked earlier what I should do with legendaries. Deposit them in the machines at train stations to convert them to scrip i the right answer. As I understand it, that scrip will later be used to roll legendary weapons.
As far as I know there's no way to mark them as seen but I would just claim all the free stuff and if you don't want it you can usually sell it to an NPC vendor.
The scoreboard shows you the rewards you get as you complete challenges and rank up to the next level. There are daily and weekly challenges that you can look up from the main menu. The lunchbox gives you 25% bonus to XP for an hour plus a random buff like slower thirst and hunger. You can also use up to 4 lunchboxes so that you will have a 100% bonus to your XP progression for an hour. When you open a lunchbox near other players they also get the benefits from it.
As for the legendary weapons and armor, when I was lower level I would keep most of it until I decided which gear I wanted to use. Now that I'm higher level I just get rid of it all for scrips because I pretty much have all the legendary gear I want.

By the way, I think perk packs are tuned to decipher all the perks you'll never use and then hand you four of them.
LOL! It does seem that way. The good thing is that you can scrap unwanted perk cards for perk coins which you then use to level up the Legendary cards.

Good to know, thanks. Looks like the answer to the question I asked earlier, about the +5 SPECIAL numbers in the build link I posted, is they are from legendary perks, some of which grant +5 SPECIAL points it seems.
I had a go at planning out my build. I've left out all the crafting, lockpicking and hacker cards aside from Gunsmith which reduces weapon degradation so needs to be played. It sure is a pain to have to swap these in and out according to the task at hand. I need two sets of perks to swap between. So this is more what I envision walking around with. Any thoughts?
Once I get legendary perks I can add stuff, and probably all the crafting and lockpicking stuff I left out! Commando, explosives, sneak are the core parts of the build. Ricochet is said to work a lot better in 76 than FO4. But I don't really know. If it fires often it could be a great perk to carry. Less damage taken and more damage dealt. And everyone one that fires counts as a tag for team events. But this is just theoretical so I have a roadmap for how to spend my SPECIAL points. Eventually I'll have all perks I reckon, so can experiment, test and swap as desired.
I see now I left one point unused in perception. Probably take Master or Expert Commando to rank 2 for another 5% of damage with automatics.

You don't really need to plan out your build. It's easy and simple to swap you stats and perks around. It's not an issue until you're maxxed at 50 and need to consider doing raids and expeditions. Until then, just roll with what's available and don't sweat it so much.

Yup, that's exactly it. I have all of the SPECIAL legendary cards equipped except for intelligence and they are all at level 3 so I get that +5 bonus. My other legendary card is called "What Rads?" and it gives me +300 radiation protection plus it removes rads. I can't remember the exact rate but it means that in the game I can essentially shrug off any and all radiation hazards with the exception of those two events I mentioned previously. I still have to wear my power armor in those events.

Have you guys used Ricochet? I'll use it if it procs often. I like perks like this, if they work often enough to be worth it.
If you have Ricochet at level 3 you have an 18% chance of deflecting ranged attacks coming at you. I'll sometimes use it when I'm not wearing my power armor but I often swap it out for my level 3 card that gives me a 35% chance of replenishing my action points if I get a kill in VATS. So when I'm using VATS I'm not using Ricochet! IMHO, Ricochet is only worth using if you have it at level 3.

Thanks. If it works often enough I'm good. I use FO4s Mysterious Stranger as my barometer. In about 400 hours, and thousands of VATS attacks, that perk fired four times. Four! So incredibly not worth it.
But of course I looked up opinions on how it works and the replies were quite positive indeed with how often if fires in 76. But as wormfood alluded to, in 76 I can just try it. It's a level 38 perk so I have to wait five levels to get there. Maybe my next perk pack will finally shine on me.

Doesn't the Mysterious Stranger perk just use a guy who has a pistol? That can't be very much damage it inflicts on enemies. I've never bothered to use that perk.

It's a .44 revolver yes, and when he does appear, which for me was super rare obviously in 4, he seals the deal. Doesn't matter what you're up against or how much damage you've done. if Mysterious Stranger shows up the fight is over. Problem is, he doesn't show up. Worked better in 3 and NV for sure. I only dropped one point into the perk in FO4, but if I had spent more points and tripled its proc rate that would have been 12 times and even more not worth it for three points instead of one!

Ah ok. I didn't know the Mysterious Stranger had a "one shot one kill" sidearm. Good to know! I've seen a couple of players in F76 use that perk but it's VERY rare.

Level 35 now, which couldn't come fast enough. Weapon levels have 10-level spreads. The Handmade Rifle for example can be level 15, 25, 35 or 45. So when I was at level 33 I was finding it slipping as the enemies auto-level and I'm still shouldering a level 25 weapon. So you need to get to the next tier to bring your weapon in line with the game world. I could still kill fine, but it took more and more shots to do so. Had a mission to go to the dam, and used up a quarter of my rifle's condition just clearing the outside. More shots, more degradation. So I left before entering the facility, intending to return once I built a new rifle. In anticipation of the need to craft an entirely new weapon (mods cannot be removed and used on another weapon) I had been focusing on picking up the right loot so I'd have the mats to modify the weapon in one go. Need a cool skin for it. And a name. Got to name my rifle.
I've been hard farming the handmade at the lumber company and have most of the mods opened now, but still no powerful auto receiver or stinging magazine. Focused receiver is good, but I want the armor-piercing of the magazine. Should just take scrapping a few more drops to get it.
One thing that has taken me by surprise with 76 is how much content there is to be done solo. It's really a complete single player game set in a multiplayer world. I had had a quest on the books for a while, In to the Mystery. Went there last night and it's crazy how this explodes in to more content. I expected to go there. clear the place and get whatever I was after. Instead it drills deeper and deeper, not only this location, but it triggers a long quest chain. The game is full of stuff like this. I certainly expected 76 to be more centered around MP stuff, and the players left to their own devices after completing some fluff at the start. But its not that at all.

Yeah, that's how I would describe it as well. In fact, I like this new Fallout setup so much that I don't think I could ever go back to a purely single player experience like what you have in Fallout 4.
Just to give you an idea of how disastrous the initial launch was for F76, NONE of the single player missions you have been doing were part of the game. Those were added later. The original vision for F76 was to be a purely multiplayer experience with the events and such. There weren't even any NPC's in the game at launch!

Interesting, and maybe that's part of why I am surprised. FO76 WAS the thing I expected it to be now, but no longer is. I may have known this, and that's what made me expect it to be a certain way. Well, they made a good choice to add this stuff then, because it got its hooks in me, and not sure I'd like it as much if I were limited to events and that sort of thing.
I really like doing my own thing, and then randomly and organically joining other players along the way. Last night I was in Charlestown. A pair of level 19s were obviously friends and playing together, following one another through the rubble. I kept a little distance, moving along with them, taking the high ground. I let them initiate combat with the ghouls and mutants so they would get their XP. But if they got swarmed I was right there to shoot the enemy off them. Like a guardian angel.
After we had moved through the town I saluted and continued on my way.

Very cool story indeed. It's stuff like that which makes this game so enjoyable. By the way, what outfit are you wearing? You're not still wearing the Vault 76 jumpsuit right? LOL

For the first 30 levels I wore the pastor's vestments with ranger hat. Now I'm sporting the surveyor's outfit with the same ranger hat.
One thing that irks me about weapon modding in 76 and probably fallout in general is longer barrels have less recoil in the real world, not more. Fallout says the opposite.

Panzer asked what duds I have on. I found something I like finally, the Drifter Outfit. So this is what I am wearing now. Now you know who you're looking for haha.
