Stupid TV people cancel it the first season.
The critics trashed it and the Nielsen ratings were terrible so unsurprisingly it was cancelled. This show also came out well before the dominance of streaming so it had no other place to go once it was cancelled.

Watched Season 2 of the Witcher, it was alright.
Got caught up on Yellowstone, I don't know how they're gonna finish everything in only two more episodes. The season started of great, but the last few seem to just be dragging their feet.
After those I had to watch something good, so I went with the old reliable Hunt for Red October.

So considering all of the massive hype for this show I've come across on the net it seems that "Yellowstone" has appealed to people who don't normally care for Westerns?

Is it similar to Deadwood? I enjoyed that show. If Deadwood was set on a modern day ranch with slightly cleaner language, that would technically be Yellowstone.

I lasted about 20 minutes. Not for me.
You reminded me about my experience with "The Sopranos". With all of the commotion and hype at that time I decided to give it a shot and I lasted about 30 minutes before I gave up. Just simply not my cup of tea.

Dune by Denis V. which I liked although I don´t really remember the original film, so I was a bit surprised with the ending. Tomb Raider (2018), although Angelina Jolie Is a fox (don´t know how she looks now), I really liked this unknown to me actress and how everything felt more natural. Not to many super stunts or game-like takes and she just seemed more natural In her acting.

Saw a movie and a show this weekend:
1) "Die Hard" -- yes, we've all seen this, likely dozens of times. I haven't watched since the 90s, and being Christmas time, why not. Movie is still great, but man, there was a lot of cheese, especially in the dialogue and characterizations. The film is iconic, elevated Bruce Willis from his "Moonlighting" days into an action hero, and also showed the world what a big budget action film could be. Granted... "Lethal Weapon" came out a year earlier, and there were plenty of Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen movies, not to mention James Bond films before this... but "Die Hard" remains special for how well it integrated all the pieces into a coherent flow. I try and imagine what it must be like for someone watching for the first time and that would be quite an experience. Still, is it tops? I rate it ~*** 3/4 out of four stars, as far as action movies go.
2) "Black Mirror" episode "Shut up and Dance" -- as far as anthology/short story fiction goes, this one is tops. This is as good as it gets. The writing in this episode was superb. I won't give away anything, but suffice to say they really knew what they were doing when they structured this story. Four out four stars.

I know one thing that shocks current day viewers when they watch "Die Hard" for the first time is the exterior shot where you clearly see a gas station in the background and you can see the price of gas on one of the signs. I think it says 89 cents per gallon. LOL

I still remember Premium Gas for 25 cents/gal in 1969 (my '69 Camaro SS) -- only kind of gasoline that station sold. Regular was cheaper at other stations.
By the way, the Camaro SS only cost $3600 -- very expensive for the day. My '72 Ford Pinto was $1700.

You went from a Camaro SS to a Pinto? Lol. My dad had a 1978 Pinto. What a major POS that was. Yes, I bought one.  My wife's car (Ford Mustang Convertible) was hit from behind and beyond repair in a multi-car accident. The guy in front stopped suddenly -- the guy in back was speeding and rammed her (she was mildly injured and recovered fully). So, I gave her my Camaro SS. Being a cheap son of a gun, I bought the Pinto for my "daily work and back" use (we still had the Camaro for special occasions). The Pinto rusted out badly -- even the floor under my feet rusted through (a hole I could feel under the rug). I saw how poorly it had been assembled. Didn't buy another one

Glad you told me. I was just watching the original now and aside from some low quality FX compared to now, I like the original better. It just looks and Is more authentic.
