Higher resolution does not mean you see more of the scene, it means you see the same scene with more definition and clarity. You have to change the aspect ratio in order to see more, or less, of the scene. Those 'p' numbers represent pixels per inch, not view size. So, when you go to a wide screen monitor, regardless of resolution numbers, you are not losing anything top-to-bottom, you are gaining side-to-side. As example, a wide screen 21:9 aspect ratio monitor, be it 2560×1080, 3440×1440, or 5120×2160, will show the exact same amount of the scene, just with more definition the higher the pixel count. But whether 21:9, 16:9, or 4:3, the top-to-bottom amount of the scene remains the same.
