1984. That's 2 hours I'll never get back. I obviously didn't 'get it'. I’m assuming this is the one with Richard Burton and John Hurt? I’ve not seen it. Apparently 1984 was one of the last films Burton made before he died.

1984. That's 2 hours I'll never get back. I obviously didn't 'get it'. How could you not? Like Fahrenheit 451, it is a testament to the perils of a societal submission to absolute Government surveillance and control, where mere thought crimes are convictions enough of an act that has occurred. In the UK, with your system of cameras and your crimes for saying certain things, at least some of it should be relateable.

I understood what it was about, I just found it dull and depressing (probably the intent of the film regarding the latter). Maybe I should have just said that. I do have the audio book but as yet I'm undecided if I want to dedicate the time to it.
A more entertaining movie about a totalitarian state in my opinion would be 'Equilibrium' but I understand that it's subjective.

If you watch Jaws backwards, it's a heart warming story about a shark that spits out so many people that they have to open a beach.

On a related note, I’ve heard some people joke that the “Hunger Games” movies are essentially “1984 for teenagers”.

Watched Top Gun again don't grasp the attraction..just a bunch of macho crap where everyone is super cool.. Not worth watching anymore..The flight scenes were all right but in between was a bit too much..Especially the Righteous brothers and the volleyball stuff Just too hokey for me

I've watched Logan's Run many times but stalled on THX 1138. A very young Jenny Agutter makes watching “Logan’s Run” completely essential.  As for THX-1138, it is most definitely not for everyone. It is super heavy on scenes with people just sitting around and talking. It is the ultimate anti-action movie. Having said that, it is quite an impressive film for first time director George Lucas.

Just finished Season 6 of Mount Pleasant, as show from the UK. I really like it. It's a comedy/drama with likeable characters. I watch it on Acorn TV as part of Amazon Prime.

That's quite an impressive feat when you figure that maybe about 90% of movies that have ever been made have been long forgotten about.

I agree with all that PM,,It's the cheese that is a bit hard to swallow so it heads to my list of movies that don't rate a return watch..Hmm same era as Roadhouse weird hair and full of macho

I saw it three times in the theater. The only other film I ever did that for was Star Trek IV.
Long live the 80s, the last golden age of awesome.

I never saw Top Gun at the movie theater. I’m pretty sure I first watched it on VHS from my local mom & pop run video rental store in the late 80’s.

Darkman, enjoyable, if a bit silly and cheesy superhero movie from 1990. Some of the effects and stunts are great though.
I've also been watching Narcos on Netflix about the DEA agent's that took down Pablo Escobar. Not sure how accurate it is, but it makes for some good story telling.
