I saw an original 35mm cinematic release copy last winter, and unfortunately, all but the last 25 minutes were washed out red. It destroyed all the visual impact. I felt very bad for people in the audience that had never seen the film before.

The Director's Cut is my favorite. I don't like the narration at all even though it provides some nice backstory to what is going on.

Interesting that James Coburn was in this and then about 15 years later he played a German soldier in "Cross of Iron".

The Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) with John Wayne. Surprisingly good for such an old film, especially one made just a few years after the actual battle. The Duke does a pretty good job playing Stryker though there is a lot of the 40s style acting which takes away from some of the scenes. Of course it wouldn't be a war movie without an awful romance.

Every time I watch this I chuckle and how everyone in here from the politicians to the top General Brass down are either just a bunch of trigger happy warmongers or a bunch of inept morons and at all the dark comedy references.
The only person who had any sense is the British Royal Air Force Captain.
I don't think a movie like this one and also its cinematic companion piece, also from 1964, Fail-Safehttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058083/ can be made today with all the political correctness going around.

I'm a huge Kubrick fan so I love all of his films to varying degrees. I even like his lesser known films like "Lolita" and "The Killing".

Just finished working through the last episodes of Black Sails. It and Game of Thrones are the only shows I've watched regularly in years.
my brother loves Black Sails, I don't subscribe to the pay channels so I don't watch it. My GF and I just started watching GoT. Season 1 and only a few episodes in.

Cloud Atlas. I didn't know much about it before watching, so it came as a pleasant surprise to me. The make-up took a bit of getting used to, but overall it was very entertaining, and I enjoyed the interlinked story structure - it reminded me of Pulp Fiction.
