Heheh, yea.
And some of the gaming forums I frequent are talking about how a GTX 970 is only barely useful, for lower demand games. The preferred idea seems to be a dual GTX 970, with one card driving each view, for any hope of getting native resolution at 90fps/Vsync per eye.

Pass! I'm not certain if an i7-2600k OC'd @4GHz is i5-4590 or greater, and I have a 970, but $599 is just out.
Besides, I still look at the keyboard in the majority of my games anyway, the OR screws that up unless they've made the bottom transparent.
Just looked...it isn't.

4 USB ports? What is it doing that it needs so much bandwidth and why there's need to be a 2.0 as well as 3.0?
When you're feeling sad, just remember that somewhere in the world, there's someone pushing a door that says "pull".

The Jedi Master No, you need "The Shocker" accessory for that. My guess - 1 2.0 for the Xbox controller 1 3.0 for the headset (audio) 1 3.0 for the visor (power) 1 3.0 for the sensor.

I think its going to take another couple of design generations before VR gaming is much more than novelty.

I'd be more or less on board, but the USB port requirements are the sticking point for me. Seriously.

Im a DK2 user, Im gonna wait for review for flightsim this time.
CV1 has to be "overwhelmingly better" than DK2 to be a flightsim device that is for practical use, and Im still not sure it is.

Have a 4k 32" monitor, don`t think I would enjoy VR for that price. Would rather invest in a new monitor 34" curved screen. Wearing glasses would not be fun with the Oculus.

$599? That's more than the monthly payment on our new GMC Yukon Denali XLT Extended SUV.
I can see that if you are wearing corrective glasses, that VR goggle may not fit on your face.

Ordered mine, among the first few thousands so mine should be shipping in March. Still though, 743, quite a bit of money. However I am super excited about VR.

So long VR dream....maybe in few years when the technology will be perfect and finally affordable for the masses.... still very disappointed by the big lie about the price: they really waited the last second to announce that the device will finally cost double the intended "mass" price. If you add the price of a new computer able to run the beast and the 4 USB plugs.... I will pass for this first gen. Let see if at that price the hype will stand... remember 3D HDTV flop?

Great news! However..
Guess I'll have to wait as well....my native laptop GPU isn't supported, though would work on my Graphics Accelerator and it's 970, though would upgrade to the 980Ti if the next issue below were not an issue.
It seems that my processor isn't strong enough.....totally sucks as I run so many games at maximum resolution. Well, perhaps when I upgrade next year, more bugs are worked out and more games supported.

What is the big surprise? Did anyone really think it would be less than $500? I never did.
Still waiting to decided between Oculus and Vive.

Just announced that the HTC Vive production device will have a camera that will allow it to combine real word and virtual world. How great would it be to be able to map my real world flight sim cockpit into a flight sim? It should then appear as if I am in my pit, surrounded by a 360 degree virtual world dome.

So they raised over $2.5 million from starter donations to make this Oculus thing and now they want to price gauge the public that gave them their start up money.
Shouldn't legally they be held accountable for every $ they received and have open records?
I.E. Every dollar they received went into building this Oculus thing from research to material to production and they should publicly post that information and not one dollar should had gone into personal usage like buying themselves a nice car and fancy parties and champagne dinners, etc
