The same could be said of the '10' reviews,no? A 10 is more legit than a 0 honestly. When you rank things it begs the question; In comparison to what? What are you going to compare BoS to? Another game that doesn't exist? Nobody made one of these games and launched it successfully for 8 years. So that alone warrants a 10. There are certainly areas for improvement but it's not a Zero. And you wonder why there is still discussion going on here at SHQ about BOS's short comings and 1C/777's failure at PR and game development decisions. It amazes me that you wrote that, much less that you entertained the idea of posting it period. What really amazes me is that you actually clicked Submit. Nice SharpXB. I hope BC can pull a rabbit out of his hat to figure a way to Spin this to the positive. I don't see a way of doing that, but who knows? S!Blade<>< Why? It's true. BoS is the only game of its kind launched sucessfully since 2006. Go back a few pages for the definitions of "it's kind" and "sucessfully"

Personally I don't see it as a success. The majority that have paid for it are not playing it. Look at the numbers. I would be very surprised if there was any further expansion past Moscow. The numbers just aren't there. Moscow will be the benchmark for success or failure. Stalingrad sales were for the development of Moscow. How many have bought Moscow? Every time I read one of sharps posts I'm reminded of the The Emperor's New Clothes. "The Emperor's New Clothes" (Danish: Kejserens nye Klder) is a short tale by Hans Christian Andersen about two weavers who promise an Emperor a new suit of clothes that is invisible to those who are unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent. When the Emperor parades before his subjects in his new clothes, no one dares to say that he doesn't see any suit of clothes until a child cries out, "But he isn't wearing anything at all!" The emperor is naked sharp. You have spent an enormous amount of time in here arguing the virtues of a game you don't seem to be playing much. Why is that?
DCS Kickstarter Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable." Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."

give a starving man a stale cracker and he will be ecstatic. Does not mean the cracker is any good, it just means that all he has.
Haha. Perfect. The flight sim fan is a starving man, who if you gave him a hot dog would angrily throw it back at you and demand a steak! More like; if they told me I'd have to stuff my own wiener then I'd throw it back at them... which is pretty much what the developers are asking us to do by making the community responsible for missions. We don't even need to go into the poor quality ingredients of the campaign system.

So first we have people up in arms demanding a Mission Builder. Now they're complaining that they have to use it. See the thing with this rampant complaining is there's no end to it.

How many missions have you made? How many missions have been made period for SP since the FMBs release? Why have so few been made? Just as there is no end to the rampant gushing of how good BOS will be, yet here we are going on year 2. How many more years before it gets good? S!Blade<><

This isn't about petulant children whining about a treat or optional feature. They/we were demanding one because it was expected to be released as part of the game. IL2 had one. CoD has one. RoF has one too. There was no reason for an EA to not expect one in BoS. It was borderline at best whether the FME was going to be released at all until enough voices uttered support for it's release. According to the crew it was too difficult to use. Tacit support for the ME by the developers turned into wait and see... we'll have in in spring 2014... to... finally getting it a few months ago.

You can stop complaining about not having it now. Understood... and I'm not really complaining about it, per se, but there's nothing 1C/777 has done that has improved the current IL2 experience. Considering the hours I amassed in IL2, CoD and RoF I'd have expected relatively the same from this purchase. I actually think I have more stick time in CFSIII than in BoS. Considering what was hoped for and what was received and ultimately what will come from this point forward I feel a bit let down. I know I won't be purchasing BoM. When the Meta Critic situation came about I gave a dual score. One in hopes of what I thought the game might become (7) and the other was what my personal experience reflected (6). I haven't felt any reason to up my personal score to what I hoped it would become - a 7 (maybe even an 8).

I've read quite a few pages of this thread and was impressed when Jason dropped by for a few posts.
In terms of buying BoM, I personally just don't have an interest in the planeset except the P-40 and the cost being the same as BoS with less content, as let's not forget the map tools have been made, the dne has been created and tweaked, the main difference is the map, summer texture and a few new aircraft. Now, I do appreciate it takes time to create the aircraft (looking at TF behind the scenes the effort is impresssive) but charging the same again for less IMHO is going to put casual buyers of at least.
I do see people saying it's 'only' the cost of a night out having a meal and a few drinks but using that analogy for buying BoM it's like going out to a Restaurant on a Monday, having a starter, main course and sweet with a nice bottle of wine, then going to the same venue on the Tuesday and paying the same price but only getting the Starter, Main Course and a can of coke.
Currently I am still interested to see what BoS does and where it goes after BoM, but as regards buying BoM at full price, I just don't have the enthusiasm to throw my money at it after being in the EA for BoS.
There are things that BoS does that I really like (pilot animation), but it's just not enough for me to blindly throw my money at it until I see what is actually going to be released (not getting caught out again with graphic options locked and the unlock fiasco) to the community.
Time will tell, cheers, MP

When I sort out the reality from the my hopes.....it doesn't look very promising for anything substantial that will refit this game and mold it into what was expected from the first EA period. If I wasn't a push over for a new flight sim....I'd have waited for BOM to unfold a bit before I slapped my money down. Jason has come out and confirmed what had already been stated...BOM is BOS, nothing internally promising about that.
Still my hopes are for more historical missions....tied together in the storybook style of Juri or Veteran, something I can at least step into. MP...well how I wish I could jump in there and check things out...but connections here will not allow.
Future outlook for me and BOS/BOM..is messing around with single player missions...perhaps doing some combat logs and playing some "Dead is Dead" again. Reading about the Eastern Front...with a special focus on the air battle over Moscow always help me step into the history a bit more. I like making movies and I'm trying to get better at that.
I can get into this...only because of the "cracker" concept that somebody mentioned up above. I'm taking what I've got and making the best of it...and that's about it. With the lack of retooling coming from the Dev's I think the current rating on Metacritic is about right...When I gave it an 8...way back...I still had hopes the Dev's would put some time and money into making some corrections. That was then...this is now....

And that sucks. It sucks that people are lowering expectations for a genre they enjoy. It sucks that people are accepting scraps just because there its there, and not because "OMG this is awesome". I do feel for you. Seriously. I am bummed BoS turned out to be a big letdown for me. I am glad that while sims in general are my favorite, its not all I play. Outlook for flight sims is slim compared to my racing sims, but enjoying Witcher 3 and how they have gone from W1 - W3 is amazing. It makes me feel flight sims have gotten the short end of the stick for a while and 1cgs has not helped, only hurt it even further.

I'm not lowering my expectations, I want the same thing most enthusiasts do from this. I just recognize this sim was released only 7 months ago. None of the other classics in this genre had all these features at this stage. So have a little optimism.

I'm hoping that my son, who is in Germany and I can get together online someday...and fly some coops together in BOS. I've got plans...someday to have a gaming computer at my office location, a business we own, and that if I want rudder pedals under my desk...I can have them...LOL.
I've tried some other games...but perhaps its just my age...I really can't get into them. I'm strictly a CFS, and a tanker for the most part.....with some UBoat mixed in there. Of course...my son and his wife, are right there with you on those other games...

Sharpe....unless you know something I don't this game is limited in what it can do, unless something internally changes, and they indicate that there are no plans for that. We might get some better utilities....parsers, mission makers, and even a career tracking system...that would be great....but I don't see anything to be too overly optimistic with. From what I can see. the engine falls short..the platform is not what CL0D had to build up from....I hope that turns out not to be true. But the Dev's are not even hinting towards anything which will counter this view....but please tell me I'm wrong....
I do agree though...my expectations have not been lowered...in that I know how far away this game has come up to the standards of what I expected. I'm just making due with what's here....and I do have fun with the game...

If you can enjoy it, cool. That is what counts. The sinking feeling of what could have been has to be there though. At least it is when I heard "New IL2" - what is it today - what it will be going forward. Sad indeed. If it was not for other genres of PC gaming I would be even more irate. Seriously I have not loaded a sim for over a month. KSP (considered a sim?) and W3 have been getting all my time. Does not mean I am not looking forward to TF5, and installing the new 46 patch. But really nothing getting me excited for BoS. Nothing.

They ALL had the ability to string a series of missions together to create a scripted campaign. And they ALL had customisable graphics settings.
