I have had Stolichnaya and Stolichnaya Black Label, Smirnoff, Ruskova, Sobieski, Grey Goose, and finally Belvedere.

Belvedere wins so far with no small gap between it and the competitors I have listed. I bought a 1.75 liter bottle last week and finished it last night - for the first time I could sip vodka without having to throw it back over my tongue to avoid the taste.

Tonight I am trying one of their flavored vodkas because I've been reading good reviews about their "maceration" process for filtering the vodka through cellulose to allow the fruit's oils to stay in the final product to improve the flavor. I managed to find their Pink Grapefruit vodka (the flavored ones fly off the shelves in our local stores) and it is very tasty.

The one I'm having right now.

When a distillery has left over moldy mash or spare garbage in the dumpster, they monetize it by making Vodka. I'll stick with stuff that has some minimum standard of ingredients or distillation.

I don't know what the brand was, as we couldn't read the Cyrillic label, but it was at some Russian mafia bar in Hong Kong, in the bars vodka tasting room, complete with parkas because it was at about 30 below in there. Some British sailors we'd met took us there.

I like the three olives vodka berry flavor.

If its not mixed with OJ, won`t touch it. My first few times doing straight and about puking.
Geeze that stuff straight is like like drinking turpentine. Been trashed beyond belief on Vodka
in my youth. Was 18 back in 1980 and drinking was just raised in MN. So a fellow graduate who`s
parents had house in WI invited me along on Graduating adventure like no other. Woke up the next
morning in the back of his car not knowing where I was. Ready to start the day again. That was
till I woke them up and told of my nights adventures. Nasty stuff for sure.

To this day, 53 years, No longer drink hard liquor straight any time.

My youth taught me hard lessons.

When you puke so hard, you think you are puking your insides out, its to much.

Back in the day, somewhere around 18. We used to get a quart glass bottle of OJ dump out about a quarter to a third and fill it up with Smirnoff blue label (the 100 proof stuff) shake it up and get loaded. Well that worked until I got so hung over one night that the next morning at the breakfast table the smell of orange juice made me hurl all morning long.

I have not had a vodka and OJ in almost 30 years.

To me vodka is best when briefly introduced to a suggestion of vermouth, stirred and served up with a twist of lemon peel. And out of all of them, so far Stolichnaya is still my favorite.

I had the exact same experience with Southern Comfort. Just the smell of it makes me want to puke and it's been 25 years since that night!

Sorry I can't help with Vodka. I would like to try drinking it though as an alternative to Scotch and Jameson. I'll have to try Belvedere if it's not too expensive. How does it compare price-wise to other Vodkas?

Something evil, no idea what it was called..all i know is one minute i was at the Casino in Darwin partying with a bunch of mates, then i was in a red MG with one of my mates, some chick we had been talking to in the casino and a dog.

A russian immigrant restauranteur in 1970 introduced
a group of us college kids to Moskovskaya, and demonstrated
"the proper way" to drink it, called a Cossack Nikolai:
a small glass, like a liqueur glass, rather like a
shot glass on a stem, filled right to the brim with
Moskovskaya, the top of the glass covered with a disc
slice of lemon, the lemon covered with liquid honey.
The glass is lifted in one motion, the honey side
of the lemon placed down on the tongue as the whole
glass is drained in one gulp. You would have to do
a lot of practice to do it without getting vodka
and honey down your front and/or up your nose, but
he could do it. Naturally, being a russian tradition,
you are supposed to imbibe liberally of these. I'm
afraid I can't remember what food the restaurant served.

But you are supposed to throw it back! At least that is what my Polish in-laws always assured me. The best vodka I've come across is Debowa De Ch�ne (Poland). Light amber colored, similar to old Dutch gin (which is not to be sipped either).

I like Vodka chilled by shaking it with ice and then strained.

I can drink several of them and it doesn't make me sick.

Most of the time I drink these, about 3-4 of them (keeping in mind each one is the equivalent of 4 cocktails (1 shot of alcohol per cocktail).

Old Russian proverb : wodka make you womit

The sickest (most sick ? ) time I have ever been in my life (I'm over 60) was when I was about 16 and got hammered on some vodka we got off an east german ship in the harbour amd mixed with A&W Root beer. My stomach still churns to this day. I still can't stand any sort of Vodka even in mixed drinks.

A HUGE favorite locally is Tito's, made here in Texas.
I don't care for it.
I can tell you that Cheap Vodka will hurt you.
