the only problem with the kill warrant scanner is you can end up with a list of bounties from other systems... and you have no idea where they are or how to get to them ... lol
Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.

Yeah, I haven't gotten the kill warrant scanner yet. I purely hunt targets that are wanted in the system that I am currently in. This information shows up with a basic scan.
With that said, I have a list of warrant IOUs from other systems that I apparently picked up from taking out some very naughty pilots.

I decided to try mining. Something non-combat for now. I got the refinery module, the mining laser. Had an issue though where I wouldn't always get the pick up crosshairs after opening the cargo hold and targeting a fragment. I think it worked 2 times, at random. Other times I just got lucky picking up fragments. Then I went to a station to make a drop, they had no listing for what I had and I accidentally ejected them inside the bay, losing them.
I have a listing on the right side panel for an Eagle, does that mean I've got one somewhere? I don't want to get into it until I'm more settled, but is that what it means?

with certain versions of the game (i think if you were in the beta ) you got a free second ship which is an eagle ... the only problem there is its not at the start location with the sidewinder ... mine was about 120ly from where i started

I love my Eagle. I got it for free but for the cost it is an outstanding entry level bounty hunter. Some of the bigger ships are tough to take down without friends because of the Eagle's lack of punch but I can do pretty well around Nav Bouys. Currently trying to find a good replacement for my 2 crappy burst lasers. I like my single cannon though (now that I know how to use it).
Now for a funny note. Jumped on last night for some fun wing action with Snap, Precise, and later on Mojo. So apparently the last time I played, I accidentally sold my shield generator for a hatch breaker. I know, WTF. So anyway, I didn't realize it, left to join the wing and in transit got blown to pieces by an AI who interdicted me. Later after joining the wing, I got jumped again but with help I survived. At this time I noticed my shields were not coming back. I checked but couldn't find the generator. During the race back to a base I get jumped a third time and again with help survive. Those last 2 AI interdictors netted Precise and I 48000 credits.
So to make a long story even longer, we may have just developed the wing fishing technigue. One guy in his free sidewinder loaded with no shields. Everyone else slaves to his Nav data and waits for him to get interdicted. Profit.

In the system map, you can see in which port.
