French and English

Last name is Gonzales. I get phone calls and mail all the time in Spanish, I don't understand a lick of it.

Both sets of grandparents spoke Cajun French (as does my mom, what she remembers).

Started learning Russian (more important to me that I can read/write than speak), also started learning x86 Assembly. Decided I can't absorb two languages at once so first Assembly (learning stuff about CPU/programming that I should have learned 20 years ago), then it's back to Russian.

Comrade wife promises that when I'm ready she'll learn with me, and then we'll celebrate by drinking tea out of these...

Years ago my French was pretty fair but I use it so little now that my vocabulary is very limited.

If posting on simhq regularly does count: English

German of course and because of the similarity of Dutch and the local northern language of "Plattdeutsch", I can at least guess most of written Dutch.

I learned French in school, but there is almost nothing left.

English and French fluently (dual citizenship).
Fair smattering of Spanish and I used to converse pretty well in pidgin Japanese.

I speak 4 languages fluently :-

English, Malay, Chinese (Cantonese) and Australian.

Some of you whom I game with said over Teamspeak I have an American accent. That is surprising because I don't sound anything American except occasionally using some American slang.

Is this Spanish ? The singer is Italian but the lyrics sounded like Spanish. I could be wrong but Google Translate said 'Spanish detected :-

native tongue is
Dutch (1)
English (2)(fluent enough for nearly all conversations)
German (3) (more then able to ask for a bit more then beer and bratwurst)
French (4) (unfortunately that is slipping due to me not using it much)

I do know a few of the more known Russian and Japanese words as well.

English. After almost two years abroad, I've recently taken it upon myself to get better at French. Then I'll try to tackle Norwegian in the late summer or autumn.

Australian?

I always fancied picking up Arabic and Mandarin, but never got round to it. There's part of me that just doesn't like not knowing stuff, so having 1/3 of world culture inaccessible is a bit annoying.

Yes, all English speaking, but soo different you'd need Rosetta Stone to understand.

German and English are fluent. Plus the (becoming obsolete now) local dialect.

I learned Latin at school, but somehow ran into trouble finding people (left alone a country) who speak it fluently...but it helps a bit in deciphering old inscriptions or some parts of sentences written in a Romanic language.

I can read some Dutch too. To me it seems Dutch and German have a common ancestor.

I speak the language of love quite fluently.

Yeah, haven't you heard? Australians don't speak English. They speak Australian. First time I went there back in the 80s, I could not understand a damn word they were saying

The only languages I speak are Java and Klingon.
